The food here was good but for the price the portion could be bigger. I appreciate they update their Instagram with the weekly menu but I think it would also be helpful if they updated the story when they run out of the daily lunch. I like that the menu changes but some comfort staples remain. However none of this is enough for me to visit this place again. The atmosphere is borderline hostile, it’s like the staff actively does not want you there. They’re disinterested and act offended when you ask to order or anything really. I know it’s a busy place and I don’t expect always happy smiley faces but some minimum cordial behavior would be appreciated. They all seem stuck up like they’re too good to serve there or that you aren’t welcome there if you don’t have the same vibes as the people working there (look like hipster students). I believe at some point the they singled out the owner and the attitude was the same - bored, hostile, and annoyed by any questions or customer interaction. Again, good food but absolutely not enjoyable to eat there. A shame.

EDIT: the owner gave a passive aggressive response below instead of taking the feedback and looking at how she operates the business. Point regarding staff attitude and poor atmosphere is proved. Don’t support a business that dislikes...

At first blush, Veganika has potential — a vegan place, on a quiet courtyard right in the centre of Ljubljana, a stones throw from the river. But I am not a fan — there is very limited choice of food, at lunch either soup or the “dish of the day”. No other options. Other places close by have more vegan choice, and are certainly more welcoming. If you can live with limited (or no) choice, the quality is there, with corresponding prices. But unpleasant atmosphere prevails — waitress, or maybe owner (couldn’t tell) doesn’t seem to like foreigners — barked at us for putting on a mask, rather than having it already on, all while staff wear masks not covering their nose, and numerous regulars wander around with no mask at all, all apparently immune from any comment. Bottom line — I wouldn’t go out of your way. Veganika has no monopoly on vegan in the neighborhood. Within two hundred meters you’ll find an Indian place — very friendly with multiple vegan options, or a falafel place, also multiple vegan options. A little further afield,...

Didn’t really want to write this review, as I like to support vegan businesses, but this is just not really great. I know reviews are subjective to whatever you order, but I can’t help but feel completely misled from other reviews. We were deciding between here and Barbarella and I completely regret my choice, as we ate there later and the food was 10000x better. We ordered fries (SUPER tasty, but we found a hair that looked like a pube in the food. We were comped for the dish, but that’s not great), the cauliflower wings (good, but the sauce was so so weird tasting and we found another hair that we didn’t even bother reporting because we felt bad), the ramen (okay broth, but not spicy as advertised and the noodles were completely uncooked and inedible), and the butter beans (good, but nothing special). Honestly, just save your money. We were looking forward to trying dessert but didn’t even bother after the rest was so disappointing 😞 It was also so crowded during lunch that we felt like people were sitting...

Walking a bit up hill and out of the old town and busy area. We liked it though as we had been travelling for a week and all we needed it just something light, healthy and no meat. Wasn’t expecting anything but this place really surprised us! There are a real professional on vegan stuff and present their dishes quite well. You can ask the staff if you are not sure what to order or trying vegan for the first time. You can also replace a type of noodle on the dish as your preference they explain a bit on the menu but you can ask if you are not sure. They are all friendly and helpful. For someone who eat less sweet or non-sugar at all this place served my purpose. The ginger lemon drink was very refreshing. We had dinner here. The best vegan restaurant in town! We really enjoyed it! Ramen soup so good as well as the soba salad, even though after 2 hours we went back to hotel we needed toilet immediately. Could be from something we ate on the train at lunch. 👍🏼 recommended

We went to Veganika twice during our visit to the area. They are one of the top places for vegan food in Ljubljana. For mains, I had the Soba 103 cold noodle dish, which was my favorite. It’s a good portion and a tasty and healthy option. For small plates, I tried a few options. The dumplings were very good, though not a very big portion; the Bun Bun was tasty but on the sweeter side; the fried cauliflower that was good but fairly basic; the polenta that I also found fairly basic; and the artichokes that had a nice wine sauce but ultimately tasted similar to Costco ones I eat straight out of the jar back home. For dessert, I tried the coconut mango cake. It was very good. The staff is very kind and the restaurant provided a cute space for dining. For dinner, the lack of air conditioning made the space extremely hot, especially given they have a wood-fired oven in the space. Overall, I recommend a visit with more emphasis on main dishes than appetizers.

After checking out Ljubljana Castle I wanted to get a healthy lunch. Fortunately Veganika was less than a 10 min walk away. I arrived shortly after opening and the place was already filling up. I noticed a lot of people had reservations but walk ins like me still found seats. The place isnt too large but they have both indoor and outdoor seating available. It got really busy as lunch time progressed so I would highly recommend making reservations during peak times. The food and service here was wonderful. I ordered the Gyoza and Soba. The gyzoa was deliciously spicy and the soba was filling and cool for a hot summer day. The serving sizes were also generous. I am glad my server recommended I start with one starter and order more if needed. I was at a comfortable full with just those 2 items. I unfortunately am not able to try more of their menu as I leave tomorrow but I would definitely go back if I am in town again.
