Once you fall in love with Specialty Coffee, you never stop appreciating good tastefully prepared Coffee, especially when you're thoughtfull when it comes to recognizing if the Coffee was good prepared.

One of the plusses of moving to Ljubljana was also getting Alexanders Columbian Coffee near me, right now on Fridays and Saturdays. I love the way he feels about his Coffee and the pleasure he has serving it, kind of reminds me of me hah when i was still working for HiKoFi Coffee Roasters, where Grega the Head Roaster, for the first time showed to me, was Specialty Coffee meant, in this case to him.

What does it mean for me, that a coffee was prepared well from a standpoint of a Customer, Ex-Barista? Primary that from the inicial flavour notes that you get directly from the bean, you understand, that the roast profile was established in a way that uplifts the inicial flavour specifics of the Coffee.

Secondary the Barista needs to be carefull about how he prepares the bean, for the various different methods of preparation, that he offers, having in mind weight, water/bean ratios, temperature of the water, grind settings ...

I'm always very satistified when I go to ČRNO ZRNO, I don't mind that he hasn't got the biggest place or a big sitting area. You know why you go to Alexanders place, beacuse of the Coffee and the way he serves it, with passion and love.

His Coffee for me especialy when it comes to filter prepared one, is my favourite one in whole Slovenia. I never got it under or over developed, always the right temperature, he cares and beacuse he cares, his Coffee does to and...

I first visited Crno Zrno on my very first day in Slovenia this past July, while searching for a great coffee spot. It didn’t disappoint. Two weeks later, on my last day in Slovenia, I made sure to stop by again—not just for a latte, but also to pick up a bag of El Aguacate to take home.

Back in the U.S., I went through that bag far too quickly and found nothing locally that could compare. Desperate for more, I reached out to Alex for help and pleaded: please start shipping your coffee overseas!

I love coffee, and having read quite a lot about its varieties and methods of preparation, I can easily distinguish it from tea. But I can’t yet say on which mountainside in Ethiopia the beans were grown and at what temperature they were roasted. But I can say whether I like this, what’s in my cup now, or not.
