Updated review after layout revamp:
Long time customer of Bootleggers Century City. Last Sunday's visit didn't go as well as usual good experience. I think with creating more space for tables which are packed in more, it's created a less cosy vibe but more importantly seemed to result in a drop in service prob due to not enough servers that more available for the number of people now.
But that resulted in:
Very slow to take order (this not necessarily the servers fault as they were seemingly understaffed) Were told our frattata's order was burnt, which were the last ones of that type, so wife had to order a different kind After a very long wait, had to walk up to coffee counter to go find out about order delay. A couple items were forgotten and had to ask for them again. Coffee then arrived cold or slightly warm at best Food took ages to arrive (food itself was good though 🙂) Noisy bell constantly being dinged behind us one after another in quick succession, which can get bit annoying especially when you sitting closer to the coffee counter.
In general feels like it's lost it's charm a bit with the layout change and more tables, and becomes very noisy with all the extra customers, bit of a more generic restaurant feeling with the big open space now, and slower with food and service.
Might have just been due to unforseen circumstances that only three servers were available that morning for a full restaurant. Staff were still friendly though but just very overwhelmed perhaps that morning. So hopefully just a one off, and if the service levels can be restored to previous levels, ensuring enough staff for the increased tables I'm sure the rest of the issues will be sorted easily.
We do like this particular bootleggers, so will go back soon and update the...
Read morethe restaurant was nowhere full - far from empty though - and we arrived for a saturday light lunch. we sat outside and found the service to be quite lacking. it took a while to be first attended to. while the waiter was exceptionally friendly, and clearly knowledgeable about the menu, the drinks took a very long time and they forgot my glass of water. i had to request it to be brought.
we were left to our own devices for a long time. there were several empty plates / cups / glasses / used serviettes on our table that were never cleared until right as we were about to leave. i had to ask for salt and pepper. i was never offered another glass of water once i'd finished mine.
as for the food, the muffins were excellent but the beef burger was decidedly average, with a fairly dense patty; the only option on the burger was extra cheese and this was a disappointment. the chips were of a good quality potato, but they felt as they'd been cooked in slightly too-cold oil.
the toilets had toilet paper scraps on the floor, unflushed toilets (twice), an incredibly slap-dash bin liner. the paper bin is also directly underneath the (super powerful) hand dryer, which causes the contents of the bin to be blown around.
nothing terrible, but all-round a decidedly below average experience.
i noticed many people bringing their dogs and sitting outside, which is great. they were typically sitting having a coffee and chatting. but that is no excuse for their only exceptionally occassionally being any wait staff outside. it was clear that the inside tables were well attended to and experiencing a different level...
