The Hussar Grill is based inside the Marriot Hotel, Crystal Towers Hotel @ Century City. I was sceptical because I really enjoyed the previous restaurant which was there before them. Mainly for one reason, and that was that they could make a chicken ceasar salad or a plain ceasar salad taste exactly like the ceasar salads in the States, and I used to recommend all my American visiting friends and my South African friends who travel to go there. I'm mentioning this on purpose, hoping that someone picks up this not so subtle hint!😊 Back to Hussar Grill, besides my nostalgia, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My teenage sons were having a feast. The food is just on another level, and the service and atmosphere is exactly what one would expect it to be. High standard of excellence. Later the week, my husband and my 3 boys watched some spy movies, and in one scene, the guy sits eating steak ,baby potatoes veg. They were so drawn into that part of the movie that they all started craving steak! But it had to be good steak! The only restaurant one of them had on their minds was Hussar Grill Century City. We had the best waiter ever. Apparently, he was still new on the job, and he prepared us for that in advance, yet he was excellent! He must have seen how serious these men wanted to steak, so he even offered to show them the different cuts. The orders were so funny...steak, baby potatoes, and veg. The waiter seemed very amused, so I let him in on what was going on. That was a funny part of what got us back to Hussar Grill Century City, but the service and quality of food is 100% worth driving for and whatever else they're doing is clearly working too because it's a well loved...
Read moreCentury City Hussar Grill is one of our fav steak restaurants. However on 30/8/24 the hostess on duty Tayor was terrible. This hostess basically took us to our seat. Did not bother to inform the waitress that she had guests at one of her tables. We sat for 35-45 min with no service. No one bothered to take the drinks order, nothing. Eventually we caught the attention of one of the waiters who then went to check who is responsible for our table. Despite our complainant Taylor did not bother to come an apogise. Did not check on us for the rest of the evening. As we left the venue she did not bother to offer any apology until I asked her for her name and explained our disappointment. All that this ' hostess' said was I'm so sorry. It's the worst we have experienced at a place that as always given us great service. Taylor should be trained ito her hostess job. An apology at the time, it was obvious we had been left at the table would have gone a far way. To stand at a restaurant door does require some skills in the art of welcoming guests, ensuring each table is checked on from time to time. She was poor. She literally dumped us at the table and walked off for the night. Our waitress was left to apologize for Taylor's oversight. Clearly Taylor does not even posses the necessary skill to make her guests for the evening feel welcome or attended too or to at the very least approach us during the evening to apologize for the bad welcome. It's left a bad taste, for a place which has always been five stars...

Solid steakhouse experience that delivers where it counts. Even close to closing time, the place was buzzing with happy diners - always a good sign.
Service: Quick, friendly, and efficient. No complaints here - orders arrived fast and staff were genuinely pleasant.
Atmosphere: Homey decor that feels comfortable rather than stuffy. Music at perfect volume, nice energy throughout.
The Food:
Beef & Reef (200g rump + 3 prawns): The steak was absolutely perfect - medium rare, juicy, tender. No notes needed. Prawns had exceptional garlic-herb balance (one slightly overcooked but still delicious). Hand-cut chips: Crispy, tasty, proper lekker. Mushroom sauce: Creamy but lacking soul - felt like it needed wine or deeper seasoning. House chips: Grilled potato slices with olives - nice touch, some overcooked pieces actually added character.
Drinks:
Le Bonheur Merlot: Proper portion, good pairing. Long Island: Sweet start but flat, disappointing finish with no alcohol presence.
Nice touches: Complimentary dark chocolate/cream/vodka shot to close - perfect ending. Good presentation with proper dishes and cutlery.
Value: Under R600pp makes this a winner for casual dining with friends/family, though slightly on the expensive side.
Bottom line: Come for the steak - they nail it completely. A few small tweaks (looking at you, mushroom sauce and cocktails) could easily bump this to 4 stars. Great spot when you want quality beef without the pretension or...
