Fournos Blubird — Restaurant in Gauteng

I normally purchase from Fournos Rosenak but thought I would give Fournos Blubird a try. I ordered on Uber Eats and I ordered a few different pastries.

The Portuguese Tarts are great and taste exactly the ones we used to get from Portugal. My disappointment is that I had written special instructions for the croissants: 1 x Custard-filled and 2 x Choc Custard filled croissants. When the delivery arrived, I saw that their was one Custard croissants and 2 x choc chip croissants but neither of which had Custard or a choc Custard in it. I phoned to say that they hadn't given me the correct order requested and explained the whole thing. The lady then said that they didn't make the chocolate-custard filled ones. It may seem trivial but why put special instructions then? I said but why didn't you call to to let me know so that I could decide if I wanted 3 Custard filled ones instead. Staff are attentive and friendly. Food was average. Restaurant was absolutely filthy, pointed it out to the manager who said they would do a proper clean. Splatter marks on the walls, floor, signage. A thick layer of dust on the plug point by our table. Salt and Pepper shakers were oily and grubby. I saw a member of the kitchen staff dismantling a box full of gunge and it kept touching a customer's bakery order. I had to go show her as she was absolutely oblivious. After she went to go throw the soggy box away, she then proceeded to pack the baked goods into a box for a customer without washing her hands out changing her glove. Cannot recommend highly enough. Popped in on Tuesday this week to grab a bite to eat. Food was great as always; however the staff are incredibly well trained and know what is on offer. Our waitress was a delightful young lady who offered suggestions without being pushy.

We went to buy bread after our meal and there was a trainee assistant who politely pointed out the special they were running on croissants that day. Needless to say we brought some of the chocolate ones home and they have been guzzled!
