The Grill Jichana Rosebank — Restaurant in Gauteng

We found this gem of a restaurant though Restaurant Week. What an amazing find in Rosebank, inside the hotel! The photos we saw beforehand really don't do the place justice. It's much smarter than what we expected. The food was exceptional, beautiful presented and equally tasty. The steak was prepared to perfection and the started carpaccio was the best I've tasted. I had a Virginia Pina Colada, it was fabulous. Steep price at R85 for no alcohol, but nevertheless, it was great. This chef knows how to prepare meals, world class! We were served by Busani. What a true gentleman and a waiter of note. Everything he did was with the utmost precision. Any question we asked, he made every effort to answer, even if it wasn't related to the food. Not my best food experience. I ordered the Salmon and was surprised when I received a Sirloin steak. The waiter then tried to convince me that it was a better choice, rather than bringing me what I requested. As i tried to be polite and not get him into trouble, I accepted the steak. The only side dish i got with the steak was mashed potatoes. Possibly the most flavorless food ever. It was basically a boiled potato, with no salt or cream or anything. The ambiance and setting are stunning, the starter was delicious and well thought out. The mains were extremely disappointing ( both mine and my partners) the tuna steak was dry as a bone.
