The cafe, often referred to as the "Harry Potter cafe," does not appear to be officially approved or affiliated with the Harry Potter franchise. However, it showcases an impressive medieval Gothic magic theme in its design. Upon entering, we were informed of a minimum requirement of one drink per person, including our 4-year-old child. We ended up ordering two drinks, along with French fries and a dragon leg dish. Our visit lasted approximately one hour.
It's worth noting that the cafe offers three levels of seating areas for patrons to choose from. The first level features a couple of sofas in the corner, while the rest of the seating consists of regular desks and chairs. The second level has long tables with a touch of Viking style, adding to the unique ambience. On the third level, there are seating arrangements resembling beds, similar to tatami style. This level also provides opportunities for photo shoots and even offers the option to borrow Harry Potter school uniform costumes.
The drinks served at the cafe are quite unique, and the same can be said for the food. The menu offers a variety of intriguing options. However, it's worth mentioning that the cafe appeared to be understaffed during our visit. We had to collect our own food from the counter, and we didn't notice any waiters cleaning up the tables.
Overall, the cafe is a good spot for taking photos and resting after a long day of exploring the Hongdae area. While it may not have an official affiliation with Harry Potter, the well-designed medieval Gothic magic theme creates an enjoyable and immersive experience...
Read moreIt’s a nice place for photos but honestly, the overall experience is horrendous for us.
The cafe is very crowded during weekends; there wasn’t a clear signage to explain that we need to purchase something before finding a seat. For someone who hasn’t visit there before, especially when the queue was extended outside the store, it’s hard to tell what to expect other than relying on past reviews.
No crowd management so we didn’t know if there would be seats for everyone in the queue.
We went back on the next day (a Monday), reached at the opening time (11:30am). We intended to have a quick lunch there but was told that we can only order at 12:30pm (meaning, join the queue again).
Btw, the staff can’t speak English and we had trouble communicating with them. We need to use an app for them to speak & translate them.
Anyway! Since we were already at the cafe, the only option was to wait and order the food later on. My husband went down around 12:20pm to join the queue for food. Guess what? After queuing for more than 15-20 minutes, he was told that the food was sold out. It’s just too ridiculous to digest the information. The cafe opened for less than 1.5 hours!
We had to finish our drinks and brought the kids out of the cafe in hunger to look for somewhere else to have lunch. It’s such a disappointment.
I would say that it’s ideal for those who wanna take buy the drinks (entrance fee & it’s not cheap), take photos and go. But if you want to go for food, not...
