A Delicious First Try: Ginseng Abalone Porridge

I finally tried the famous ginseng abalone porridge at this popular shop, highly recommended by many on Instagram! The location was easy to find, but be sure to head to the second floor and avoid confusion with the adjacent porridge store.

The ordering process is self-service, so be prepared to place your order at counter. The menu is straightforward, featuring only porridge options, with recommended dishes marked for guidance.

I opted for the ginseng abalone porridge, which arrived with a simple yet appealing presentation. Tiny tender abalone pieces and a whole ginseng on top. Just add seasonings, mix, and enjoy!

The flavor was rich and satisfying, with a deep ginseng taste that shone through. Be warned: the portion is generous, so consider sharing with someone to finish it comfortably.

Overall, a wonderful first experience with this dish, and I can see why it's a favorite among many. Give it a try if you...

I must admit we enjoyed the food. The food served were exactly as advertised. Where I was let down is the location where we were seated. I wondered why we were at the back by the kitchen and stairwell when there were tables available. It became clear to me that this restaurant categorised customers by ethnicity; Chinese tourists were seated at the bottom floor in their better table with upholstered seats. The locals who worked in the business area and the ones who wore branded clothing and footwear were seated at their top floor. It’s very off putting and this is probably one of the worst experiences encountered in Seoul thus far. Racial discrimination in Seoul is...

Visited 10 June 2023 Saturday sunny afternoon. The following sharing are based on our unbiased personal opinion and experience

We had this bonjuk some years back during our first trip to Korea before covid. We came back to myeongdong again to try it again. The restaurant is located on the second level.

We ordered 4 bowl of porridge for sharing. The taste is the same as what we first tried. It's really good especially the seaweed and oyster porridge.

Overall worth a 4 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the food, service and dining environment. Can come and try...
