Restaurant is so badly run that I just felt sorry for not only myself but for other hapless customers who looked like tourists from provinces in Korea.
Staff was robotic and careless. We came at 5pm where only three tables were occupied. We couldn’t get the service from them although there were more staffs than customers at that time. Mostly staffs looked like they just wanted their shifts to end.
Food is mediocre and not fresh. If you are used to usual Crystal Jade dim sum from Hong Kong, please be aware that this is anything but that. I mistakenly ordered Beijing Duck that was like plastic. Waiter did his best to cut the skin off which was half burnt. I was happy that I ordered half duck instead of whole duck at this stage.
Restaurant is in basement of the building so it’s dark and somewhat wet. Mix this with surly attitude of the staff, it kinda reminds me of dingy dirty restaurants in Hong Kong that has seen it’s better days. For this one, I don’t think this has ever seen a good day. Stains can be seen on it’s white walls and dusts remain on its corners and mirrors as if it’s there to stay forever like murals.
After torturous 45 mins at the venue, I left it as fast as I could.
This restaurant needs to get closed. This doesn’t do justice to both in the names of Crystal Jade, Beijing Duck and especially “usually” good Korean services.
If you want authentic Chinese food in Myeongdong area, then I suggest that you fork out more money and visit the ones in either Lotte or Chosun hôtel nearby. You can even find Sharks Fin...
Read moreit's me, the only person who writes decent reviews in the English language on Google Maps in Korea. This is Crystal Jade. Crystal Jade is an expensive restaurant chain. You should hold on to your pocketbook when you arrive. Two of you are going to spend no less than $40 here. That's us money. If you want to eat more than the dumplings than you're going to Shell out a whole lot more. Bring a big crowd. Split the bill. You're going to Feast like kings. It's going to be delicious. I cried when I spent $3 on a single dumpling. I wasn't crying because of how much it was. I was crying because of how delicious the food was. I knew I was going to go bankrupt eating these dumplings. That was 700 dumplings ago. And it's still not enough. They are absolutely addictive. It's no wonder that this is one of those highly rated Michelin star...
Read moreDined in with my mum and below images are what we had for our dinner. Seemed like it wasn’t enough at first but we were extremely full at the end.
I would recommend har gow and siu mai for your starters. These two prawn based dim sums have two different style of presenting the juiciness of the ingredients.
Stir fried veggies were also amazing.
Tip. You should order braised pork/deep fried pork menus early as possible because they tend to take 50 minutes to cook.
Very satisfying dinner overall. Juicy prawns still make my mouth watering as I’m writing this review. Definitely worth the Michelin...
