We had dinner at Tani last night on the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel (The Plaza) nearby. I would say the style of cuisine is a Japanese Korean hybrid with a commitment to high quality ingredients. We started with the sashimi platter for two @AUD$60 - they took the time to ensure that we were comfortable with all the inclusions before serving it. We are pretty adventurous so we were happy to try the sea urchin and other raw items but I would have balked at the live octopus which was luckily not on offer. We followed this with some fried eggplant and tofu under a dancing cover of bonito flakes. Our mains were scallops in a creamy miso sauce, and black cod. Both absolutely delicious and perfectly presented. The cost for two including drinks was around AUD$250. Although there were only two of us, we were seated at a table for four by the window.
