Mari Meokja [마리먹자] Halal Korean & Malaysian — Restaurant in Seoul

One of the worst place that we have visited! We went over to have our lunch but the place was full. We were told that they were serving a tour group. We asked if we could reserve the seats for later. One of the ladies said to come back in an hours time. We came back, they let us sit, looked through the online menu to order. Meanwhile we saw that some orders from the customers were not given and they seem to have waited for some time.

After 15 mins, when we could not submit our order online. We were told that the chef is rushing off and will not be taking anymore order! We were very upset over this poor and unprofessional service. It is definitely unacceptable to tell us (with my two children) to come back in 1 hours time, let us in, seat us and only to say later that they were not accepting any orders .

Refrain from going to this restaurant. Not able to manage customers' order well too. Can be seen that customers were unhappy with missing orders after waiting...

The first time I visited, the food was good — even though the plates and cutlery were still wet when served, which felt rushed and unhygienic. I assumed it was a one-off due to busyness, so I gave it another chance.

Unfortunately, my second visit confirmed the lack of care. The sundubu jjigae was bland, my cup had dried marks on it, the tray was wet, and I even found bits of eggshell in my food. The staff are friendly on the surface — they’ll smile — but they lack training and attentiveness.

When I pointed these things out, there was no gesture of responsibility. I just received several apologies while paying. I wouldn’t have accepted compensation anyway, but basic acknowledgment is the least one expects.

Had a wonderful experience at Mari Meokja Halal Korea! We ordered the Nasi Lemak and Korean Fried Chicken, and both were absolutely delicious. The Nasi Lemak was rich and flavorful, while the Korean Fried Chicken was perfectly crispy and well-seasoned — a great balance of local Malaysian taste and Korean twist.

The ambience was peaceful, and the scenery around the restaurant made it even more enjoyable. It’s a great spot for halal food lovers looking for comfort food with a view. Definitely recommended for anyone visiting Korea and craving a taste of home with a Korean touch....
