Each person has to order a dish tastes okay cheap opens from early in the morning till late at night very packed terrible service terrible sense of hygiene
I'm writing my experience in English although everything happened in Korean, so tourists could avoid ruining their experiences in Korea.
Me and my friends went in to get some Toppokki - the spicy rice cakes. We had to order other menus unwillingly because of the restaurant policy. All dishes were served quickly, yet we hadn't got our Toppokki until we finished all the other dishes.
We asked the waitress is Toppokki on it's way. She and others didn't know, and I heard some arguments in the kitchen and someone shouted they were out of rice cakes.
Waitress returned to our table with an arrogant and grumpy tone that she can't served the dish, and insisted we have to order something else.
I told her we are here to have Toppokki, and she should have told us earlier if they were out of it. She suggested us to order soy sauce Toppokki instead -What?!?! I asked her "Aren't you out of rice cakes?"
She suddenly got mad, and stormed into the front counter and found a bag of rice cakes there. I wondered why they said they were out of it. Also, what if it's expired.
My another concern was the place is quite unclean, and on the way to the kitchen she spilled the half of the bag on the floor. Then I saw her picking up the rice cakes from the floor, putting in a clean bowl and bringing it into the kitchen. I remember there was a bin just behind our table.
Thankfully none of us was sick the next day, but I would never...
Read moreThis place has a variety of food on their menu, including gimbap, bibimbap, porridge, dumplings, ramen, soup, etc. I came here one night hoping to order the hot stone bibimbap. The bottom floor was full of single dining customers, and I was able to get a table. While waiting to place my order with the waitress, I noticed that 2 customers were waiting at the cashier to pay for quite a long time. The waitress ended up helping one of the customers to pay, but I wasn't quite sure why she didn't help the other customer. I finally gave up because it was taking forever to be waited on, and I left while that second customer was still waiting to pay.
The following night, I gave this place a 2nd chance. I went a little earlier than dinnertime so there was no wait, and I was the only customer at the time I entered the restaurant. I ordered the bulgogi bibimbap, which was pretty cheap. The water, kimchi, daikon radish, and soup were self-served. Overall, the gimbap was just all right. It was a large portion, but it wasn't anything special. I also didn't drink the water because I realized that my cup was a...
Read moreRight when we went in, we did not feel welcome. When we sat at our table, one of the servers kept slightly pushing my boyfriend as she walked past and even when we moved our table to give her more room, it still happened (which may not have been on purpose, but didn’t feel right). Service was not kind. Was never smiled at or even greeted.
We ordered 떡국 (rice cake soup) 물만두 (water dumplings) and 김밥. The only one that tasted alright was the 김밥. The 떡국 almost had no flavour and the 물만두 was tiny (though they gave you a handful). Each time an order came out, the lady had to keep asking who ordered what and was continuously checking our order from our table because she could not remember.
Food wasn’t worth the bad experience. There are cheaper restaurants that serve better, authentic Korean food than this place. Don’t recommend it. In 명동 especially, there are so many better choices where they actually make you feel like they enjoy your service. Don’t waste...
