here is taqueria named Villa Guerrero Tacos. it is located Coex, Seoul. it is place that well embodied original mexican style tacos. most korean people unfamiliar to Mexican local tacos like lengua tacos, buche tacos. so many taquerias in seoul are well localized suit for taste of korean. there are barely here offer a local style tacos.
i watched the instagram of Villa Guerrero Tacos. it looks the owner studied at Mexico before opened this restaurant. he also has Youtube channel. he looks very serious to tacos.
i ate lengua and buche(stomach) taocs. that is totally new experience for me. that is so awesome. i am fall in love that taco's great savor and texture of pork. the salsa was perfect. tortilla that made on the spot was perfect. i never been Mexico, even America, but Villa Guerrero took me America continent immediately.
due to owner’s authentic philosophy of taco, the taqueria do not sell optional foods like nacho chips, guacamole. he really focus on carnitas with big heavy knife.
one piece of taco is about 5,000 KRW (=4 USD). i think that is not expensive in common food market in korea. even the taqueria is located Gangnam, where is most expensive region in Korea. i could ate 4 tacos, but i had to restrained for my diet. i ate half of that.
the taqueria does not have big size hall. maybe ten people is maximum. the Aztecs style pattern and color interior was so unique and exotic to me.
i do not have much experience of tacos. but i want to say taqueria Villa Guerrero is my best place for original mexican style tacos in seoul. so, if you come to Korea, and if you taco mania, please visit Villa Guerrero. and...
Read moreBeing in a mood all week to eat Mexican food we came over to Villa Guerrero to try some tacos.
I came with an appetite and ordered 4 tacos which were the Maciza (shoulder), Lengua (tongue), Tripe (tripe) and Chorizo. My wife got the matapiratas which was the green chorizo available on Saturday and if we didn't have an early dinner planned I would have got that taco as well because it tasted amazing.
Each individual taco filling had its own unique taste and it didn't seem like they use the same base for their seasoning. I'd not eaten many tacos before but I was really impressed by the flavour of these tacos and the different varieties that were available. My favourite taco was the Lengua (tongue) which was so unbelievably soft and tender with a slight jelly like texture that was really something I enjoyed. The Maciza (shoulder) was next with a nice pulled pork type of flavour, the chorizo was next followed by the tripe which I was expecting a bit more of tripe and flavour but still very delcious.
My wife ordered the Saturday special green chorizo which was just amazing. The flavour of the chorizo was just so flavourful and one that I'll come back and try...
Read moreLegit. Been going to VG since 2015 and to be honest, I wasn't blown away at first. However, over the years the tacos have gotten better and better. Their tortillas are way better than before and they give you limes instead of lemons. Fair warning though, the tacos here are different than the kind most people are used to, it's very traditional Michoacan style carnitas. If you're used to Tex-Mex, this will be very very different.
The owner learned everything in Mexico in a town called, you guessed it, Villa Guerrero. He's really gotten better at his craft and it's good to see more and more people appreciating the work that has gone into his food.
The service has always been good and the owner is super friendly. You can tell he's really passionate about Mexican food and culture.
I also love when they have specials like today (menudo) and when they made some mind blowing chorizo sandwiches. Hope they keep doing more specials like that.
I have added pics from both delivery and at the restaurant. Surprisingly, the tacos still tasted just as good after being...
