Enttäuschend und nicht zu empfehlen

Wir waren heute im Restaurant Azar essen. Der erste Eindruck war ganz ordentlich, doch dieser täuschte leider. Der Service war enttäuschend: Der Kellner war forsch bis unhöflich, Getränke wurden kommentarlos auf den Tisch geknallt – teilweise von wechselnden Bedienungen. Man fühlte sich nicht willkommen. Am Nachbartisch hingegen gab es Tischdecken, besonders zuvorkommenden Service und deutlich mehr Aufmerksamkeit – offenbar in der Hoffnung auf ein gutes Trinkgeld.

Auch das Essen war enttäuschend. Geschmacklich erinnerte vieles an Aufgewärmtes, Suppen oder Soßen wirkten wie aus der Tüte. Die Pizza war noch das Beste, aber auch nichts Besonderes.

Was uns wirklich verärgert hat: Die Preise auf der Karte sind ohne Mehrwertsteuer angegeben – erkennbar nur durch schwer verständliche Abkürzungen, die vor allem für Touristen nicht nachvollziehbar sind. Das empfinden wir als irreführend und grenzwertig betrügerisch. Ob das überhaupt zulässig ist, bezweifeln wir.

Fazit: Leider ein enttäuschender Besuch. Wir kommen nicht wieder und raten anderen davon ab – wegen des schlechten Services, des lieblosen Essens und der fragwürdigen Preispolitik.

Disappointing and not recommended

We ate at Azar today. At first glance, the place looked promising, but unfortunately, that impression didn’t last. The service was poor: the waiter was abrupt and at times rude. Drinks were slammed on the table without a word – sometimes by different staff members. Overall, we didn’t feel welcome. Interestingly, the table next to us received special treatment, with tablecloths and lots of attention – seemingly in hopes of a good tip.

The food was also disappointing. It tasted reheated and bland. Soups and sauces felt like something from a packet. The pizza was okay, but far from great.

What upset us most: the prices listed on the menu exclude VAT – something only marked with confusing abbreviations that a tourist would likely not understand. To us, this feels misleading, if not outright deceptive. We doubt this practice is even legal in Spain.

Conclusion: A disappointing experience. We will not return, and we cannot recommend this restaurant – due to the poor service, low-quality food, and lack of pricing transparency.

Decepcionante y nada recomendable

Hoy comimos en el restaurante Azar. Al principio parecía un buen sitio, pero esa impresión cambió rápidamente. El servicio fue deficiente: el camarero fue brusco y poco amable. Las bebidas se dejaron en la mesa de forma descuidada y sin decir nada – a veces por diferentes camareros. En general, no nos sentimos bienvenidos. A la mesa de al lado, sin embargo, se le dio un trato preferencial, con mantel incluido y un servicio mucho más atento – al parecer esperando una buena propina.

La comida también fue decepcionante. Sabía a recalentado, sin sabor, como de sobre o preparada industrialmente. La pizza fue lo único aceptable, pero tampoco destacaba.

Lo más grave: los precios del menú están indicados sin IVA, y esto solo se señala con abreviaciones poco claras, difíciles de entender, especialmente para turistas. Nos parece algo engañoso, si no directamente fraudulento. Dudamos incluso de que sea legal en España.

Conclusión: Una experiencia decepcionante. No volveremos y no recomendamos este restaurante – por el mal servicio, la comida mediocre y la falta de transparencia en...

Update 2022 Food was very good, excellent service. Increased by 2 stars as no issues with portions and staff were very good. Portion size may depend on dish ordered. My son had a pork dish in pepper corn sauce and said it was probably his favourite meal in 2 weeks. Didn’t notice it being much more expensive as all other restaurants seems to have caught up a bit. We ate here twice and no complaints.

Previous- Great location and a little pricier due to this.

We have been here a few times because my wife likes it, but the teenage children not so much - mainly because the portion sizes are small (they want you to order 3 courses). Decided to give them one more chance last night. The food is good as is the service but still hungry after. My son went to Burger King an hour later to fill the gap.

I took one star off because the waiter had the cheek to say that the 10% tip was not enough!! Outrageous and probably / definitely won’t go back again.

Other odd thing is why is the restaurant not on Google maps until now. I am sure it was in 2018.......

Two stars because the waiting service was very professional, but I'm sad to say that the food is horrific. I got a beef steak with mashed potatoes. The steak was ok (not great, not terrible), warm enough, considering that they microwaved the crap out of it, since the plate almost melted the table, but the rest of the food was horrendous. The mashed potatoes were blended (maybe the cook does not know that when you blend starches you get plaster, not mashed potatoes) and plated as a square volcano, where on the inside the steak was drowning in sauce. The bernaise sauce was anything but bernaise sauce. I've tasted car wax better than this. The red wine sauce tasted like chocolate. Now imagine this: plaster, car wax and chocolate, all in the same plate. Fancy this?

My wife had fish with the traditional potatoes. The potatoes were so old, that the skin had to be swallowed entirely, there was no way that only 32 human teeth can break that thing apart.
