The worst meal I have ever eaten. We went to this restaurant because of the good reviews on google. When we arrived, they were kicking someone out for being drunk and abusive. We ignored that and went in. What a mistake.
The waiter was nice and attentive. We ordered a mixed grilled fish platter and seafood paella. The wine was passable and the potatoes and tuna salad starter also reasonable. The first indication that there would be a problem was when the drinking straw that came in my daughters glass of juice had been chewed at one end, and not by my daughter! I started to worry that they recycle straws between customers, but maybe that was just a one off…..
The fish platter arrived - I tried the tuna steak first. It tasted like an old rubber boot and equally as dry and chewy, same with the salmon. Clearly old fish that had been reheated. The white fish was undercooked and slimy. The mussels and clams were not fresh either and we didn’t eat more than a couple of bites because we didn’t want to get sick. The squid was clearly frozen, not fresh. Prawns shrunken and dry.
We sent the food back and waited for the paella. When it arrived, it was full of the same old unpleasant frozen fish. Instead of vibrant, punchy colour and flavour, the paella was anaemic, watery and again we feared that it would make us sick.
The Canarian waiter was very apologetic. It felt like it wasn’t the first time he had dealt with unhappy customers. I asked him if he had ever tried the paella. His response: “I wouldn’t even order the pizza here”. His honesty was the only good thing about this meal. We paid our bill (€70!), gave him a tip and got the hell out of there as fast as possible. Truly the worst meal...
Read moreI have never given a poor review and this sadly smacks of tourists beware. Beachfront cafe, but not recommended. The drinks are watered down, the food very basic, tasteless, and suspect poor hygiene (see potato and prawn saga below) . Depsite the flash photos, your food will not resemble them. The seafood cocktail smelled bad (we returned it but no refund provided despite speaking to manager) and the Canaries potatoes when asked for mojo (Canarian salsa served always with them) the server didn't have a clue. It also had something "sticky" which when shown to manager his reply was "it was only the one, yes?" !! Do not go there. €50 for 4 and not worth it. We had watered down Cosmo, Pina colada, Sangria and only authentic beer. The "solo €9.95 menu" 2 fish n chips (non-descript fish & 19 chips), 1 seafood starter X, 1 ice-cream. 1 Coffee. Eaten far better...
Read moreFantastic experience. Paid 12.95 for set lunch menu. I chose incredible fish soup, followed by grilled fish with potatoes with salad and the delicious canary salsas. Included coffee or desert to. Expresso was fab. Add the this, a pint with the lunch cost 1.50! Meal for two for £25.00, in the UK would have been £100!! Very nice people that ran it. At this price you might expect bad quality but quite the opposite it was high quality. Couldn't recommend higher, and just makes me want to...
