Restaurante Agua Viva — Restaurant in Arona

I visited the restaurant on the 31st of December and I had a very unpleasant experience with my dinner.

I had a reservation at 8:00 and when we walked in, the table wasn’t ready and after several minutes they gave us a table by the toilet which revealed to be very unpleasant as everyone was passing through there.

It started with the waiter who was incapable of speaking in English and very impolite as he was pressurising us to choose a dish and becoming impatient with us, when we asked a few questions regarding the menu. Also we have been approached by another waiter who took the drinks order, and was incapable of answering question relating to the origination of the wine and promising to bring a house wine, which has never brought, and instead a white Rioja of the cost of 20€ (cost 2/3€ in Mercadona).

The Paella despite the appearance was completely tasteless and bland with frozen ingredients put together all at once. On top of this, the paella arrived after a few minutes!! Something impossible as far as I am aware as in theory should take over 30 minutes to prepare for a good paella. The seafood were just added on top at the end, separately cooked, therefore not transferring their special taste to the paella.

Afterwards we decided not to continue with the experience considering the high prices and the level of service received and quality of food.

Rude attitude, not recommended at all We stopped here for a drink and we asked first the waiter at the entrance if we can smoke on the outside terrace. He said “yes” and he indicated us a table on the lateral side of the terrace, where there were no other clients when we arrived. Another waiter, who also served us the drinks at the table, has had a very disturbing attitude towards us regarding smoking and made a lot of offending remarks which culminated at the end by saying that if he knew we would only stop there to smoke, he had not allowed us to sit at the table there. He was very rude and agresive with us, although we were polite until the end and explained him that we are on holiday and we enjoy our free time the way we want and yes, this includes smoking too, although it’s not healthy. For us it was the first time when we faced such a rude and judgemental attitude, finalized with the lack of respect towards a client. Not only in Tenerife, but everywhere else we went. And it is also the first time when I do only a negative review, as the way I felt in this location made me ignore all the good parts there. We have a saying in Romanian language: “the man sanctifies the place”. Too bad for this nice location to have such...

100% .. i did like this place so much we did keep coming back to it again and again. They have good food,lovely and friendly staff,our first food was garlic shrimps , octopus and bred as starter and then we did order the Sirlon stake..ufffhhhh .what a meal.. the stake was spot on and what a feast. We where so hungry when we were looking for something on that night ...we did walk around the stets and behind to take all in what was there and we did come down frome the site walk to this place. Ok..ok..we where so hungry we just sat down and dint think about it any more..and our first idea was to sit down,order drinks and than take a look at google and se..ok..we did take it as ok go..so yebb it endit to be our favorite. Price is reasonable and the food werryyy good and fresh. And we dod come back and back. Next 2 times we came we did order pizza..and avacado tomato salat..good pizza and the salat was fresh fruits. 100%. The last time we cane we did order the BIG stake Chateaubriand ..with all inn.and what a fun night. We did order the best red wine i have tried for some time from Lanzarote. Totally...
