Busy local restaurant serving Canarian dishes. We had lunch here on a Friday. Luckily for us we arrived and three tables were free outside. Within a few minutes these were filled and other customers were having to wait for a table. It is very, very popular with locals and I can see why. We shared Papas Arrugadas for starters, followed by Matrimonios each for mains. I had already downloaded the menu so we ordered quickly. The food arrived with very little delay, served by the waiters scurrying around to deal with the rush. Both courses were super. Very flavoursome, and portion sizes were spot on. With two soft drinks the bill was 26.20€ before the tip. The waiters are very efficient, friendly and humourous, despite being rushed off their feet. Toilets are available inside, and there is a bar there too if you just fancy drinks. It's all accessible, although the toilets might not suit a wheelchair user. An authentic local dining experience; well worth trying.

Loved this place. Typical spanish food. The waitress suggested we try the special of the day which we did and it was amazing. The prices are equally as good too we ordered 3 courses and it only came to €30 including coffee and drinks. Its definitely a must just dont go to the toilet before you eat they are terrible but i already knew this from previous visits haha. But other than that its perfect.

Simple canarian cuisine in two places one next to the other: the first one is the old style bar serving the same famous matrimonio dish (mix of fried squid, fish and chips) as the restaurant next door. The second one is more fancy, with less traditional cuisine and a little bit higher prices.

Memorable

English translation follows

For an all-around eating experience, Charco Vivo Restaurant is a must when visiting Arrecife. The place is packed, buzzing with an outstanding and professional staff. If you’re fortunate enough to have Geraldo, who cooks in the morning, for a waiter, you’ll marvel at his attention and charm. Only open for lunch and waiting list a probability, but don’t fret. The wait, while you sip a glass of their surprising local white wine at the bar, is worth the wait. The grilled limpets in secret sauce are the best we had on the island. A shared main dish called Matrimonio, a variety of local fish fried to perfection and accompanied by the island’s famous garnish potatoes, is remarkable. Both the red and green sauces, mojos, are special; although the former is unique. All in ll, a...

Me alargo demasiado....
