Bar Castells — Restaurant in Barcelona

Absolutely authentic wonderful local vibe. Found this restaurant while walking down some alleyway near the La Rambla area. Prices were much cheaper than the tourist trap restaurants in the main La Rambla and most of the patrons seemed to be locals and a lot of the people around the bar area seemed to know the staff.

As for the food, it was fantastico. Every tapas bar has their own take on the Patata Bravas sauce and I loved their one the best during my stay in Barcelona. I also liked the spicy Catalan sausage. The baby octupus was brilliant as well and had a tangy sauce and some greens which added some layers to the dish. The fried squids were also perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of crunch.

Very fast and efficient no nonsense service. The servers and staff knew what they were doing and you could tell they have been in the industry for a while. The cava was superb as well.

Tip- If you are in the La Rambla area and want an authentic tapas place look for this place or go check out the alleys. Don’t get scammed or pickpocketed. Prices here were much...

I have to say I had a very weird experience at this bar, I mean the barman tried to charge me more than what I had and even after the waiter confirmed he kept insisting to the waiter "are you sure?". I could only imagine if the waiter joined his lie and I had to pay for more then what I had. And on top of that the man was super rude I understand it's closing hours you don't have to be nice but stleast try to not be...

Nous sommes arrivés avec 5 amis pour dîner un soir. Le serveur vient nous demander ce que l’on souhaite boire au bout d’une minute à être assis, nous n’avions pas eu le temps de regarder la carte, nous lui demandons de revenir et de nous laisser du temps et il revient littéralement 1 min après en forçant pour savoir ce que l’on veut boire en mettant un peu la pression. Bref, une fois que l’on sait ce que l’on veut manger, nous commandons nos tapas et pile au milieu de prendre la commande, le serveur lève son stylo de son carnet, regarde vers le bar et se casse. LE TYPE SE BARRE EN PLEIN MILIEU DE LA COMMANDE. Du jamais vu. Nous l’interpellons finalement après quelques longues minutes sans qu’il revienne pour finir notre commande et monsieur se permet de nous dire que ce que nous commandons « es demasiado, es mucho » et refuse de nous prendre la suite de notre commande en disant que c’est trop et qu’on ne finira jamais… du jamais vu. Ce qui aurait pu être considéré comme quelque chose de commercial s’avère franchement impoli, nous sommes sortis du restaurant en ayant encore faim car nous ne pouvions plus commander et pour couronner le tout le restaurant fait du black, ne prend pas la carte de crédit, uniquement le cash.. un petit contrôle fiscal serait...
