Café Zurich is an absolute treasure in the heart of Barcelona, where nostalgia meets modern charm. As soon as you step onto the terrace, the world slows down, and you’re greeted by the hum of Plaça de Catalunya – a symphony of life and energy that perfectly complements your visit. Let’s talk coffee: this isn’t just your average cup. It’s rich, velvety, and seems to carry whispers of stories from decades past. Each sip feels like a warm embrace, making it the ideal companion as you soak in the vibrant atmosphere. The food? Oh, where to begin! From classic, mouth-watering tapas to decadent sweets that make you feel like a kid in a candy shop, Café Zurich delivers on all fronts. Every bite is a celebration of flavours, crafted with care and served with that signature Catalan hospitality. But here’s the pièce de résistance: the view. Sitting on the terrace is like having a front-row seat to Barcelona’s heartbeat. It’s people-watching heaven – a swirl of locals, tourists, street performers, and city magic. The vibe is electric, yet somehow calming – a paradox you’ll never want to leave. Café Zurich isn’t just a coffee shop; it’s an experience. Whether you’re a local looking for a familiar escape or a visitor wanting to soak in Barcelona’s essence, this spot promises memories as rich as its coffee. Don’t miss it!

August 13, 2025 Staff were rude and not willing to help at all. I needed an extra chair to sit with my friends so I grabbed the chair next to us from an empty table. The waiter said something along the lines of "No, this is a different restaurant". I was like "oh ok" Only to notice that same waiter go into "Cafe Zurich" and serve other guests. There was NO other restaurant next to it. Even the umbrellas where he was serving said "Cafe Zurich". I went to the bar to talk to someone, the lady there talked to me in Spanish, and I said "I'm sorry, I only speak English" she replied to me in English fluently, once I told her what my concerns was, she switched to Spanish, started talking loudly, said something, made that "annoyed face" and turned around, completely ignoring me afterwards. It seems like they hate tourists, I get it, you might be tired and overworked but remember, these tourists are keeping your business going. Be better!

We actually live in Zurich Switzerland so when we first saw this place in central Barcelona, we were immediately drawn to it. The terrace is great and spacious but the waiter was not particularly friendly to say the least and the 3 mojitos we ordered (2 regular ones and 1 virgin mojito) were filled with too much ice and didn’t taste good at all. Plus the waiter brought the straws a few minutes after the drinks so we couldn’t stir anything. Very disappointing to be using Switzerland ‘s reputation, Swiss efficiency and high standards abroad without being able to match any of it. I wish I could, but unfortunately I can’t recommend this café. Sorry, but customers do need to be talked to properly and the mojito recipe doesn’t seem too difficult to replicate 🙃🙃

Quite expensive, too touristic and noisy. Too sweety cake and too sour orange juice. Rude and unwelcoming atmosphere. The way that they communicate made me frightened because one yelled toward to me. I've been many cafes in BCN but here I had the worst experience ever and I never won't go back.

The worker was about to order different food because he had not pay attentioned. I made it clear and he brought my plates with bill at my table. After few minutes, I got to notice that my bill had disappeared. I thought while workers passing, it might dropped off because of the wind or they cleaned it for a mistake since it does not make sense that I threw it away. (What I did was sitting and eating and that is all.) When it's time to pay, he complained that I did not take care of the paper. So I explained, but he just insited that it is my fault and his attitude was so rude that it made me annoyed and uncomfortable. At the end, he made me pay 2times because he misunderstood the error of the machine as my card's fault. As I felt weird, I checked my bank account, and I could see he made a mistake. If I'd not checked, I was about to pay 15 euros for this quality of food with uncomfy situation. I asked a refund and he made me to wait few minutes. Finally, I could recieve my money back, but it would be much more better if I could hear...

Little rant whose behaviour of some exasperates me. We were walking and passing in front of this terrace that seemed nice, we decided to sit at a table. This table was not cleared and dirty, but too bad, we decide to sit down anyway hoping that the waiter would come to clear it to take the order. 20 minutes pass, we get impatient, we call, one then two waiters but it's the policy of the ostrich, I didn't see or hear anything. 10 minutes later, still no service. We decide to make a new attempt with the server, his answer, I'm overwhelmed, I can't do everything. Well sir, we understand. We take the initiative to go by ourselves to take our order at the counter. What a surprise! We can't, it's not impossible, the service is only at the tables. At the same time, I meet the waiter at the counter who explains to me that he cannot serve everyone, his tray overflows with orders. I point out to him all the same that several customers arrived after us and have already been served. By noting his bad faith and a total disorganisation, we decided to leave and leave them in their catastrophic service. I can't judge the cuisine and the atmosphere, but on the other hand the service deserves...
