El Abasto BCN — Restaurant in Barcelona

If you have any child, do not seat at this bar, although they are located exactly on the right side of a school, they make very clear that you are not welcomed if you have a child. Usually parents, after school, mainly on a Friday, when they are completely empty, try to seat on the outside areas for some drinks, that we intend to become a dinner, but as soon as you seat, even if your kids are playing in the square which are in front of the school and super spacious, not being at the table, the “lovely” waitress states that this is a restaurant and she serves no drinks for children, that she has nothing. They are rude, we feel like they are doing us a favour. Of course now we are not giving our money to this place anymore (and note that when I say we, I mean lots of neighbours in the area). I do believe they are not interested in locals. So please, go and have good food and drinks somewhere else, when you are treated nicely as a client and you fell good about being in a restaurant. **In reply to the answer from the owner - I would like to say that if you are saying that your bar is mainly a restaurant, why do you open at 4pm, 5pm? Surely no one will come for lunch/dinner at this time, it will be mainly drinks. If you are not happy to serve customers drinks - then you should not be opened out of standrd meal times. And I do understand that unfortunately reviews like this can be damaging, more than the reviews, your service is damaging by itself. I have tried many times your service before I decided to write a review, thinking that maybe the waitress / waiter was having a bad day. But seems like is not the case. A week in Barcelona barely lets you scratch the surface. Not only of the sights and sounds but also the food and drink.

In some ways coming here on our first full day was a shame as it set the bar so high that we used it as a benchmark for all other restaurants we ate at. None were quite as good!

We chose from the fixed-price lunchtime menu and were all very impressed with our food. Simple, well cooked and good quality. The wine was fabulous and we'd have cracked a second bottle had it not been out plan to head back to the beach in the afternoon.

No words can describe how amazing this place is, everything is cooked to perfection, we looked for a decent steak which is hard to find, well we found it with this place, I’ve never tasted a steak so good in my life, I go for quality and this place exceeded my expectations, we also had staters which was amazing, we also had deserts, cheesecake oh my god tasted so good.and the brownie. Would like to also say that these are homemade. Not many places offer this. If anyone is in the area then this is the place to go, staff and chef are so nice and polite and make you feel welcome.
