We had a delightful dining experience at El Congrejo Loco this week, indulging in a sumptuous feast of exquisite seafood. Our attentive server, Baddi, effortlessly guided us through the menu, ensuring our preferences were met with warmth and efficiency. Despite the bustling atmosphere, his hospitality shone through, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. As we savored the delectable dishes, a nearby event added to the ambiance, showcasing the versatility of this charming venue for special gatherings. The diverse selection of fresh seafood offerings at El Congrejo Loco captured our attention, each dish promising a unique blend of flavors and textures. My dining companion started with the Salt Cod Puff Ball, and I selected the fish soup with Rouille toasts. The salt cod puffs were a beautiful golden brown, delightfully crispy on the outside, and a delicious blend of salt cod, onion, garlic, herbs, and spices. Yum! My soup bowl was delivered to me with the Rouille toast on display at the bottom of the white porcelain bowl. My dining companion was momentarily confused, but I knew what to expect. Baddi deftly pulled out his arm, which had been somewhat hidden, and revealed the soup decanter, which he then poured adroitly into the bowl, making sure not to cover the Rouille toasts. The Rouille toasts floated to the top. The soup was a rich and flavorful velouté, combining the natural flavors of the fish and stock with its complementary seasonings. The Rouille toasts each had three small dollops of the Rouille sauce, a rich, spicy, and garlicky sauce made with olive oil, saffron, and spices. I broke off bites of the toast to enjoy with the soup. It was simply divine. Next, we both selected the salmon with orange sauce, sautéed mango, and papaya. The salmon was beautifully prepared, with a moist and tender interior and a surprisingly crispy exterior, where the fat caramelized to offer a satisfying crunch. Dipped in the orange sauce and accompanied by mango and papaya morsels, this provided a delightful combination of textures and a sweet and savory taste profile. Huge disappointment after many years We’ve been coming to El Cangrejo Loco as a family for more than 10 years, and it used to be our favorite spot in Port Olímpic. This August, we returned with family and friends for the first time after the renovation, and unfortunately it was a complete disappointment. The food was simply not good. The salmon tartare was almost inedible, and the tuna tartare was just as bad. Either the chef has changed, or something else has gone very wrong in the kitchen. For the prices they charge, the quality was shockingly poor. The only positive thing that remains is the nice view. Sadly, everything else that made us love this place before is gone.

I am writing this review to warn other tourists. This place is a complete tourist trap. First, they didn't give us a menu. They just showed us the seafood area where nothing had prices. Then, without our agreement, they added several very expensive dishes that we never ordered to our meal. Because we were not careful enough, we didn't realize this until the bill came. The final price was a huge shock and was way over our budget. I feel this is a very dishonest way to treat customers. Please be very careful if you go here. Always ask for the price first and confirm every single dish they bring to you. Do not recommend.

Katastrophaler Abend – enttäuschend, unprofessionell und einfach nur unangenehm

Unser Besuch in diesem Restaurant war leider eine einzige Enttäuschung – und das auf ganzer Linie.

Schon der Einstieg ließ nichts Gutes erahnen: Die bestellten Mojitos schmeckten lediglich nach saurem Limettensaft, ohne jede Spur von Minze – einfach nur lieblos zusammengepanscht. Auch der Maracuja-Drink war geschmacklich flach und kaum genießbar und das für 8€ nicht gerechtfertigt (dann lieber das Geld und Erwartungen sparen und zur Cola zero greifen). Wir haben es hingenommen und gehofft, dass zumindest das Essen besser wird. Leider weit gefehlt.

Die Bestellung war für das Personal offenbar bereits eine Überforderung. Insbesondere vegetarische oder vegane Optionen stellten die Bedienung vor scheinbar unlösbare Herausforderungen und wirkten hektisch. Dabei sollte das heutzutage in keinem Restaurant mehr ein Problem darstellen.

Bestellt wurden unter anderem mehrere Paellas (darunter eine Gemüsevariante), ein Steak (medium), Meeresfrüchte – insgesamt acht Personen. Die Bedienung teilte uns mit, dass Paella etwa 20 Minuten benötigt. Soweit, so gut. Nach etwa 25 Minuten kamen zwei der Paellas sowie die Meeresfrüchte – die Hälfte der Gruppe war bedient, die andere Hälfte durfte weiter hungrig warten.

Ab diesem Moment ging es nur noch weiter bergab. Das Steak kam erst nach ca. 50 Minuten – zu diesem Zeitpunkt war es statt medium längst durchgebraten (well done). Als wir höflich darauf hinwiesen und nach der verbleibenden Gemüse Paella fragten, wurde es richtig unangenehm: Die Gemüse-Paella wurde schlicht vergessen und müsste noch gemacht werden (also on top nochmal 20 min warten). Statt sich zu entschuldigen oder wenigstens Verständnis zu zeigen, wurde mit Achsel zucken, uns in unhöflichem Ton unterstellt, wir hätten etwas falsch gemacht oder es wäre von wegen unser Problem gewesen bzw. wurde es auf uns abgewälzt. Die Bedienung zeigte sich komplett uneinsichtig, projizierte die Schuld auf uns und wurde zunehmend patzig und abwehrend. Dieses Ego geht überhaupt gar nicht und war schon fast krankhaft notorisch – keinerlei Anzeichen von professionellem Verhalten oder Gastfreundschaft. Kritikfähigkeit? Fehlanzeige.

Als "Wiedergutmachung" (vermutlich?) kam später ein erbärmlich traurig servierter Teller mit vier kleinen Käsestücken, ein paar Trauben und einer Walnuss – dazu sprach die Bedienung an uns vorbei auf eine Person ein (die das Steak bestellt hat), die gar nicht die Sprache verstand. Kein Wort der Entschuldigung. Kein Entgegenkommen. Nur Ignoranz und ein trauriger Versuch, über das Chaos hinwegzutäuschen, wobei nur eine Entschuldigung viel wichtiger und hilfreicher gewesen wäre, als uneinsichtig einfach ein erbärmlichen Teller sprechen zu lassen und uns damit quasi zu bestechen.

Die Gemüse-Paella kam schließlich ganz zum Schluss (also nach ca. 1std und 30 min), als der Rest der Gruppe bereits aufgegessen hatte. Ein gemeinsames Essen war unmöglich – stattdessen mussten wir zusehen, wie eine Person allein aß, während alle anderen längst fertig waren.

Es war so unangenehm und haben dafür dummerweise auch noch bezahlt, weil wir am Ende zu höflich und nachgiebig waren – rückblickend ein Fehler. Das Restaurant hat keinerlei Einsicht gezeigt, keine Kulanz, keinen Hauch von Kundenorientierung. Vorallem für den stolzen Preis waren die Erwartungen hoch und wurden ziemlich hart enttäuscht (und das am 60. Geburtstag unseres Vaters). Der stolze Preis, den sie verlangen, steht in keiner Relation zur Leistung. Das, was dort versprochen oder auf der Karte angepriesen wird, stimmt schlichtweg nicht mit der Realität überein und durch das gesamte Erlebnis war das Essen ungenießbar.

Fazit: Überteuert, überfordert, unhöflich – absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Wir haben unsere Lektion gelernt und würden diesen Ort definitiv kein zweites Mal betreten. Wer einen schönen Abend verbringen möchte, sollte sich ein anderes...

Gran bona notícia el retorn del Cangrejo Loco al Port Olímpic de Barcelona després d’un període de remodelació del restaurant, de reconversió de la zona i d'haver engegat el germà petit a l'Eixample mentre el del port estava tancat. Nosaltres esperàvem amb ganes el nou projecte del Cangrejo Loco al Port Olímpic: mític buc insígnia dels restaurants de peix i marisc del front marítim. I un emblema de la ciutat de Barcelona. Imprescindible. Els desitgem de tot cor molts èxits i moltes encerts en aquesta nova etapa!! S’ho mereixen amb escreix: per l'esforç, per la bona feina feta i la que fan! I per la dedicació - experiència de més de 30 anys en el sector de la restauració. Al timó d'aquest transatlàntic gastronòmic hi ha els estimadíssims Toni i Montse, dues persones meravelloses, pencaires i entusiastes que estan acomboiades per un equip formidable de professionals a la sala, cuina, les oficines, manteniment, etc. L'equip funciona amb gran precisió i bon saber fer. Ofereixen un servei impecable i un tracte professional: atents, discrets i pendents de les necessitats dels comensals en la justa mesura. De tal manera que -sense que quasi es noti- et fan sentir molt a gust i com a casa. Un 10. Considerem que és el millor restaurant de Barcelona per menjar-hi peix, marisc, arrossos, tapes i entrants boníssims mentre gaudeixes d'un entorn i d'unes vistes privilegiades del mar i del Port Olímpic. La cuina ofereix un producte d’una altíssima qualitat. Excel·lent. La carta és extensa i hi ha plats per a tots els gustos. Nosaltres vam menjar un pica-pica per compartir i un arròs caldós de llamàntol: exquisit.

Hi haurem de tornar per tastar les mariscades. Les Postres totes molt llamineres i atractives, però aquell dia nosaltres vam optar per un deliciós Waikiki sense alcohol: granissat de fruita refrescant i molt digestiu.

ECL té dues cares que es complementen a la perfecció i amb molt d’encant a parts iguals: per dinar és un espai lluminós, alegre, dinàmic, amb vistes al mar, a la platja i a la costa barcelonina. Per sopar quan a exterior es va fent fosc al capvespre, el restaurant canvia completament i es converteix en un lloc màgic, romàntic, càlid i molt molt especial.

Sens dubte és un restaurant ideal per a qualsevol ocasió, esdeveniment celebració o àpat, tant per la cuina excepcional que ofereixen com pel lloc privilegiat on està situat. Aneu-hi en parella, amb la família, amb amics, companys de feina, amb qui vulgueu i gaudiu d’aquest restaurant. La relació qualitat-preu és bona tenint en compte l’altíssim nivell gastronòmic i l'excel·lent producte que ofereix. Moltes felicitats, llarga vida al Cangrejo Loco i enhorabona a tot l'equip!!!
