I have no words. My friend and I came across the location near Plaça de Catalunya on a whim, and I was initially sceptical: After all, we were only in Barcelona for a few days and had plenty of Spanish cuisine to experience. I’m so thankful that my friend insisted on going in, because I think it was the most memorable meal I’ve ever had!

Everything was breathtaking: My eyes were immediately drawn to the rainbow of ingredients that made up the prep area, then to the vibrant hues of the drinks bar and finally to the giant tree standing proud in the middle of the two-storey dining area.

Choosing just one option seemed impossible without simply closing my eyes and pointing somewhere on the menu, because every plate I saw being made looked and sounded incredible. I ultimately went for the falafel with salads, as well as the roast carrots. I’ll spare the details and just say this: Never have I felt more calm and joyous.

It being my birthday and me craving more, I then ordered a tahini-maple latte and a red velvet cupcake using the just-as-beautifully designed app. The latte was life-changing, as I’ll now be adding tahini to my own as often as possible, and the cupcake made turning almost-thirty almost bearable.

I’m already thinking about returning next year just to eat here again. Getting to see the handsome men and beautiful sights of Barcelona once more would just be icing on...

I didn’t miss the gluten. I didn’t miss the meat. What I did miss was a second stomach. Because once you start tasting food like this— food that feels both nourishing and indulgent— you don’t want to stop.

Honest Greens is proof that great cooking isn’t about complexity, but about integrity— about letting ingredients speak for themselves with a little help from chefs who clearly care.
