Eating here was the worst experience I have had so far on my trip and I have been traveling for a month and a half.
When we first sat down, no menu was given and no one told us anything about ordering. We asked the server (the younger one) and he just pointed at the menu on the wall. The menu was in Spanish which is totally understandable so he then pointed at these four photos on the wall and we just said one of each. This entire interaction was unfriendly and unwelcoming.
We also ordered tap water but the server just gave us bottled water. I understand not all restaurants serve tap water but he never mentioned this and just assumed we were okay with this by dumping two bottles on the table.
The food was average but the portion sizes were INCREDIBLY SMALL. We ordered five tapas and the bottle of water and it came out to be 32 euros. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. We asked the server to print out the detailed receipt just to confirm we were not over charged. The bottle water (that we did not ask for) turned out to be 2 euros for a small 300ml bottle. My friend and I had to get a second lunch at another restaurant after eating here and I am a person of smaller appetite.
Ultimately the worst part of the experience was not the price but just the service we got. The server we got was plain rude. I assume the experience would be better if we were Spanish and want a drink with a good atmosphere. However, considering the reviews and the crowd we saw, it seems like tourists make up a significant portion of...
Read moreSmall, traditional bar with only 4-5 simple dishes on their menu and excellent red, white and rose wine directly from the barrel. Nothing fancy, only the joy of simple, well prepared, home-made style food, wine, beer and loud, joyful conversation. The bar is very popular among locals and is small, so be prepared for eating in crowd and during the busy hours of lunch and dinnertime, you can spot the bar easily from distance from the loud crowd gathering around around the entrance. When we first ate there we were very lucky to get a table for 5 people and 2 1year old babies sitting in our laps. We could even find a corner for the pram, but as I said, we were there early and lucky. What we ate: Fried pescaditos: the best I have eaten so far in Barcelona. Not heavy and oily (like in las Delicias at the bunkers del Carmel), excellent texture: crunchy breadcrumb and very soft fish. My one year old son with only 4 teeth could easily eat it and he loved it! Pincho with fried chorizo (sausage): lately I am not a fan of chorizzos or fat meat, but this was amazing. Perfect harmony of spices and not “heavy” at all. I think it is a home-made chorizo, they buy it directly from a farm. Pan con tomate: good Tomato and onion salad with olives: simple, home-made style and goes well with both the oescaditos and the chorizo. Amount of salt and vinegar as it should be. Simple and delicios!
Service: quick, professional, friendly. Price for value: just great! It is a treasure...
