Today I was in Manioca, not the first time, I usually have a good time there and they have nice food, specially when Karol and chef Galo were there. But today I’ve got a bad experience. One of the staff dropped two beers on me (I didn’t mind that at all, as it was an accident, there was no problem, super chill and the waiter was really gentle and offering to pay the beers for us) Later, I’ve ordered a vegan plate and they gave me real meat. In the middle of the dish I’ve noticed it really tasted like cow. I didn’t eat meat for more than 2 years until today. Okay you might think is not a tragedy but what made the experience really bad was the fact that they took the meat plate away when my friends were finishing it and they preferred to throw it away and waste food if my friends weren’t willing to pay for their mistake. The first thing you notice is the beautiful sun drenched dining area with casual sitting and lots of open space (street view is not up to date yet as the place has been completely remodeled). They even have a play area for kids complete with a miniature stove, child-sized aprons and a small dining table.
The open space theme continues with an unobstructed view of the perfectly appointed kitchen where you can watch the chef create delicious traditional Brazilian treats like pão de queijo, coxinha (chicken croquettes) and brigadeiros from scratch. She does not take shortcuts!
They serve an impressive cafezinho and you should not miss their special menu events like...

So far, so good.
So I sit down with my friend, with the intention, desire and eagerness to eat cheesecake and brazilian coffee, when all of a sudden, the same lady comes to our table and with a genuinely weird and condescending tone demands: you cannot have this here, as you got this from somewhere else. (Even though I had asked). Also, this place is gluten free, and that cheesecake is not.
My cheesecake felt offended. My friend felt weird. I left astonished.
Go to Mensana. They're nicer...
