I was just looking for a place to chill and have a few beers. And then I stumbled upon this place. It's a small cocktail bar with seating both inside and outside. I was greeted very kindly by the hostess and I was offered a table at the bar. I was not in a mood to have cocktails, so I just ordered beers and some tapas(tuna cheese and chorizo). But the highlight of the evening was my pleasant interaction with Christine, she made sure that I felt comfortable. I had some fun conversation with her. She is very warm and friendly and a wonderful person. I felt very welcomed and I ended up having a few more beers just because how comfortable Christine made me feel at the bar. I was supposed to go back again today, but unfortunately my knee is in a bad shape and I am unable to make it tonight. Hope I can visit the bar soon again someday :) Great work by the team and Christine thank you for your time and keep smiling.

However the cocktails looked great, and the Alex who was at the bar was continously making the cocktail like a well oiled machine. Kudos to his energy.

Read moreMariposa Negra is situated in the heart of the Born neighbourhood in Barcelona, an area known for its gastronomy, art and its streets that full of life.
Owner Luca Corradini emphasizes that he and his team are artisans and artists, and the follow a do it yourself approach, which encourages creativity, progress and learning. Almost everything within Mariposa Negra is crafted in house with recycled materials, including ceramic glasses, plates, decorations, and the bar top.
One of the most popular signatures on the menu is Malaostia (limoncello, Himalayan salt, lemon, fresh basil, cream and boldo). The glass was designed to have a large area at the top so the bartender can easily design the decoration on top of the foamy drink. The large opening also allows the aroma of the basil to more easily escape from the vessel. The vessel diameter is large, which forces the guest to use to two hands to pick up the glass. This allows one to better appreciate the creaminess and complexity of Malaostia. The glassware was painted with a similar pattern of the decoration on top of the drink, to achieve a balance between colors and texture, and therefore aesthetics.
With Mariposa Negra, Corradini has managed to successfully bridge the gap between the artisan and bartender, developing a space that encourages the creativity and imagination of both the guest and...
Read moreWe visited this cocktail bar, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. While waiting for our cocktails, a large insect fell on my hand, which startled me, and I instinctively started shaking it off. What was shocking is that none of the staff or anyone at the bar reacted to the situation at all.
When my partner and I decided we no longer wanted to stay due to this incident and told the waiter we didn’t want to eat or drink there anymore, we were informed that we would still have to pay because the cocktails were supposedly already prepared. However, we hadn't received any drinks or food, and we couldn’t even confirm that they were ready. When we said we wouldn’t pay for cocktails we hadn’t consumed, the waiter insisted, even going as far as to say we should call the police if we didn’t pay.
We left without paying since we never received anything, and as we were leaving, the waiter shouted after me, calling me "not a man" for refusing to pay. This was extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. Overall, this experience left a very bad impression on us, and I can’t recommend this place based on the lack of respect and poor service we...
