The place isn’t particularly enticing; just a random hotel restaurant. There’s air conditioning, which is a plus in Barcelona summertime. The tables are plastic, and the chairs are more suitable for lounging than for having a meal. There is nothing special or attractive about the decoration.
The food was bland, almost tasteless. We were ordered deep fried croquettes, only realising they where frozen at arrival. Luckily for them, they didn’t come with their core frozen, or I would have sent them back. The baba ganoush was worser than what I can make at home. It was, thin, bland, and inconspicuous. The only oyster I ordered was severely overpriced for it’s size, presentation, and quality. They didn’t bring me hot sauce or even salt and pepper.
For the main course I’ve ordered Shish kofta, and calamari brochettes. The calamari was chewy, unseasoned, bland. It’s only saving grace was the vinaigrette sauce. The kofta could have been bought from any supermarket, it was tasteless, unsalted, lacking any character whatsoever.
If you take into account this is a five star hotel in a touristic capital of Europe, this is very disappointing. I expected a lot more, and am frankly disappointed with the cooking. I won’t bother to come back until they have a new chef.
The service was the other only saving grace, apart from the vinaigrette. Nice, well-trained, empathetic, attentive personnel with attention to detail and keen eyes, ready to assist at the slightest movement. If only they have some good food to serve their guests.
I hope this serves as a wake-up call to the restauranteur...
Read moreFood here was OK, the location, ambiance and lighting were lovely. Sadly the service completely let down the whole experience.
Firstly, there are no views from your table you have to walk up to by the pool to see anything, so bear this in mind.
We were asked what we wanted to order 10 mins after being seated, but hadn't even been given the QR code to look at the menu....and that was just the start.
Main meals were served as some of the table were still eating starters, some starters hadn't even been brought to the table, so had to be cancelled. A glass of water took 4 requests and finally arrived about 30 minutes in, after we had pretty much finished our mains. Our multiple requests for a blanket for one of the guest who were cold never materialised.
The service was so bad it was like something from a comedy sketch show even though the restuarant was less than 50% full. We cancelled the other bottle of wine we ordered as at this point we didn't want to stay.
Finally, after the mains, one of the servers apologised for the standard of service received and offered us a bottle of cava. It was just nice to have this acknowledged and really appreciated the offer. It took the edge off a really bad experience.
I probably wouldn't return considering the overall service and the amount of money spent....plus the standard of food was...
Read moreWonderful evening spend at Mood with family. The location is excellent, we visited after a tour of the Sagrada Familia and it was a nice easy walk from there. The service was the highlight for me, with our waitress being friendly and attentive throughout the evening and most importantly for me patient with my parents who are older and find the language difference challenging. Food was great, although I’ve given 4 stars as I felt some of the dishes were a little overpriced for what arrived, two of my party had the salmon skewers and it was essentially salmon cubes with rice. Although, I understand you’re paying for the view also. Finally, on that point, I found the plants along the edge of the roof frustrating as it meant there was no view from the table, you’d really only be able to see from the roof with a table for two and be lucky to enough to be sat on the balcony. Overall, an excellent...
