Secrets Pau Claris — Restaurant in Barcelona

I have ordered a takeaway a few times from this place, and I have been delighted with the food, the details and pretty much everything.

This morning I decided to stop by for brunch, and it was disappointing. The place is beautiful inside. But after a brief look I decided to sit outside as the music inside was awful, it was about 10 am, but there was some kind of nightclub music being played. Unfortunate choice really and a disservice for the lovely interior. Plus one of the waitresses did not wear a mask!

The service was disappointing. Slow and unfriendly. The same waitress took a while to come to ask what we wanted - she again took our order without a mask on. Then she swept the front area, while we were sitting there. She got interrupted while sweeping, so the broom and shovel with dirt ended up being left right at the entrance, next to the lovely cake display. I could not help but noticing the sloppiness of it all. And how unfortunate it is given how much money and work is invested in making the place look nice. Luckily her coworker noticed it and removed the whole installation.

Too bad. Maybe better personnel would have helped. I’ll stick to ordering things from...

When we were eating at this restaurant, the dishes attracted flying insects. We asked the waiter, and the waiter called the manager, and the problem was solved. Although the customers were told that this was a common problem at first, they apologized later. When we wanted to take the remaining bottled water away, the waiter walked out the door without explaining the reason, and just asked us to return the remaining mineral water to her. We were very puzzled at the time! First of all, this was what we ordered when we ordered the dishes, which means it belongs to the consumers. Secondly, this is what we left after drinking, and most importantly, this kind of bottled water is very common in supermarkets, and it is not a fixed asset or fixed decoration in your store. The behavior of this waiter made me very puzzled! I really don’t understand! We have also ordered such bottled mineral water when we ate in other restaurants. The photos are misleading (e.g the coffee came out of a machine (no barista, no latte art, no taste) and the matcha was grey), the portions were super small and also some of the dishes were not enjoyable. We were 6 people and half of us were already finished with their food when the information was shared by the staff that one meal isn’t available today which we ordered half an hour ago. Until this meal was served, the rest were already done with eating. The poached eggs were fully cooked and not runny at all. The portions were also very small in comparison to the price. Also one of the staff was very cold (and told us about the not available food too late). The food that was offered because the other originally ordered one wasn’t available had different ingredients than the so called „same“ one someone else got 15min earlier.
