We have spent our first morning in Barcelona cranking up the pedometer in Park Guell and admiring Gaudi' gaudi-ing..... And by the late afternoon we find ourself sauntering down las Ramblas and also very hungry..... I ask ChatGPT for a few recommendations, and both it and Gemini have this place in common...
Now I won't lie, I picked this place out of comic book nostalgia , because as a huge Asterix and Obelix fan who remembered the roman legionaries yelling "quo vadis" as a challenge to all those who approached their camps, I had to check out what a place named after that phrase was all about!!
We walk in around 2.15 PM on a Thursday and manage to get a table for 2 without a reservation.... The waiters are helpful in navigating the menu and are fluent in English.. we order the lamb and potatoes and chicken strip fries .... And end with a cream of catalunya
The lamb was I think arguably the best meal we had in our iberian peninsula trip and definitely the best red meat based dish we ate.... Perfectly well done without being overdone, with a mildly herbed mildly crisp exterior and succulent, soft interior where the flavour had seeped through, every bite was a genuine delight!! The sauce of the goat based dish was also a piece de resistance!! The chicken strips were objectively very nice too but paled in comparison of what isn't a fair fight at all!
The creme de catalunya was a great ending touch... I don't know how sweet this is normally supposed to be but this was balanced and perhaps leaning on the sweeter side... Definitely brought back memories of creme brulée but with a more custardy touch...
I highly recommend this place, don't worry no roman legionaries will challenge you as you enter, just friendly waiters, dim lights with a gentle vibe and...
Read moreFood: codillo de credo Al horno, is one of the best item on the menu. The meat was tender and soaked with all the flavours from the gravy which most type of dishes are hard to get in restaurants weather it's only on the surface or the meat doesn't get the melting in your mouth but crumble beforehand due to overly abused of sauce. But this dish surpassed all that needed when it comes to the meat and the portions even size for two with the price tagged on it. The downside is the side dish that comes with it would gladly take less neat with equal balance side weather if its carbs or greens, but nonetheless this one of the best meals you can ask for if you dine in there. Service : fast delivery for the food from the moment order to reached the table not needed to wait much at all. Very well known on what to recommend on the menu items. Atmosphere : Upstairs washroom was abit busier then usual. The guys side was none functioning Used the downstairs were clean and maintain well. The vibe of the place feel cosy and yet energetic at the same time if it make sense. Definitely worth a shot if your in town don't tgis miss hidden gem out! Read moreA truly terrible experience. The food was mediocre. Even though we told them not to make the paella too salty, it was still very salty. I accidentally left my bag in the restaurant when I left there. I called them one and a half hour later. A woman answered and passed the phone to a man. His attitude was extremely rude and impatient—he looked for about five seconds and said he couldn’t find anything. Before I said anything, he hung up on me. When I tried calling again, no one answered.
I went directly to the restaurant, but it was already closed, even though it was well before the closing time listed on Google Maps. The next day, I went back again and spoke to the same woman who initially answered the phone. She was indifferent, arrogant, and showed no concern. She just told me there was nothing there and said the restaurant didn’t have any surveillance cameras. Only when I mentioned leaving a bad review did she reluctantly say “sorry,” but it didn’t feel sincere at all.
I have never encountered such rude service before! Losing the bag is one thing, but having to deal with such an awful attitude is...
