Nice little place! We had a very early dinner which was at their reopening time (5pm). The atmosphere would have been good if it was busier but the staff member that was working turned it into a good one for us with his interactions. He was very kind and helpful, I wish I got his name to mention in this review.
The menu was small but just enough which I believe is better. As the chef would have better experience in delivering better quality rather than a large menu and not cooking or making the same dish as often. For two people the order was potatoes, mussels, salad and paella. We made adjustments to our order and it came out as expected. Potatoes - they were fresh and the two types of sauces made the dish flavourful. The serving portion was good for 2 people. So good definitely should get when visiting Minos. Mussels - I would not get these next time. I’ve had a lot of mussels in my life and these must have been over cooked and not as fresh as I would have expected them to be. The portion size was good for 2-4 people to share. Salad - it was a nice salad to have after a hot day outside. But it did lack of dressing, not the balsamic but the dressing that the chef had added to it in the making. Tomatoes were a bit to big for my liking, smaller pieces would have been better. Paella - chicken, vegetable and foie. I definitely got this without the foie as “foie” is the fatted liver of an animal, in most cases it’s of a duck or geese (definitely not for us!) The paella was just fine without it. It still had a lot of flavour and I liked how the dish was not dry on the pan when used. It came out with enough sauce. The rice was cooked just right! Not too crunchy and not mushy, just right! The portion size was more than enough for 2 people. Would definitely recommend this dish.
Overall, if you are staying near La Rambla then you should...
Read moreVery highly recommended.
Cozy restaurant with great staff, interesting design and amazing food. We tried vino roja de Alhambra (red beer), patatas bravas and black rice pallela with calamary. All very recommended.
We would have loved to try other dishes or dessert but we were really full.
Sorry the photos are taken after we had started eating because we could not resist :)
The staff were super caring and the young fellow who helped serving us offered us and other costumers a free shot of lemoncello after we were doen eating which made it even sweater. He also speaks Italian and we heard him speak Italian with the chef so in case you speak the language may be that is a plus for you :)
I loved the atmosphere because I think the design has the right amount of color and contrast, gives off a hipster vibe that is not at all obnoxious - and there is a very nuanced synchronization between the cutlery and the decore, all of which is inspired by spanish ceramik art.
The background music was also very suiting and had the right amount of energy and calm at the same time, unlike many restaurants that play loud pop american music!
Anyways here is a big thank you to people at Miño, we would love to visit again whenever we are...
Read moreThe croquettes were decent, nice sauce. But without a shadow of doubt thee worst paella I’ve ever had the displeasure of entering my mouth. The rice was undercooked, which is a sin. The sauce seemed to be cooked in a soy sauce which was far too salty & the rice not having any crust at the bottom (cos again it was undercooked) was completely farcical. The four langoustines were a gooey mess when they should’ve been meaty & slightly soft. I felt sorry for the four sad mussels as two of them we could barely open & when we did they were somehow (which I’ve never seen before) an undercooked befoul. Also felt a bit sorry for the staff as I think they even know how bad the food is here, not once did they come over to ask us how the food was even though the place was really quiet. What was even more scandalous was charging €36 for that woeful paella which was suppose to feed two people. The highlight of this restaurant was the door for the bathroom but you could just have a beer to check it out. Should’ve known better as it’s next La Boqueria market so it’s a major tourist trap. If you want a good paella go to one of the smaller markets or just avoid...
