Restaurant El Mesonet — Restaurant in Barcelona

Fantastic service and amazing, authentic cuisine. We didn't speak Spanish, but were able to pull up the english translated menu with a QR Code at our table, and give our best try to pronounce our selections in Spanish. Please don't be upset that you may have try Spanish when are visiting Spain. :) The staff were both very patient and friendly with us. We ordered bread with tomato, the goat cheese salad, grilled rabbit and cod llauna. Wine is available by the glass, though we didn't partake. The restaurant appeared to be filled with locals, which we saw as a good sign. The flavor profile of the menu is, probably, a bit too sophisticated for small children. The food was the best we've had, so far, in Barcelona. I wanted to try the catalan cream, but they were sold out. Our server recommended the cheesecake, instead, which was out of this world! We found the prices to be more than fair. A (multi-course) set menu of the day is also available. Fresh espresso too. Highly recommended! Dodge the nearby tourist traps and stop here for lunch, instead (if a table's open). If I could give more than 5 stars I would. ...

Fuimos a comer el pasado domingo y no pudimos haber escogido mejor. En mi caso el ir a comer o a cenar siempre suele ser un problema al ser celíaca, sobre todo los domingos (pues gran parte de los restaurantes certificados sin glúten por la FACE están ese día cerrados), así que cuando encontramos “El Mesonet” fue una auténtica sorpresa: ya no solo por el hecho de poder tener una opción sin glúten y apta para celiacxs, sin riesgos de contaminación y con un personal muy concienciado y preparado para esta enfermedad, sino también por lo increíble que estaba la comida y la amabilidad con la que nos trataron en todo momento. Escogimos hacer el menú y dentro de las diferentes opciones de gastronomía tradicional catalana que ofrecían en él y su buena relación calidad-precio, pudimos disfrutar de unos magníficos canelones (los míos sin gluten, con lo difícil que es para una persona celíaca disfrutar en un restaurante de ellos y hechos encima por el propio restaurante, nada de comida envasada e insípida!) y un meloso de ternera estupendo, acompañados ambos platos por pan de nueces con tomate (hecho también por el mismo lugar sin glúten!). De postre nos sorprendieron además dándonos a probar un trocito de pastel de queso y otro de tarta de Santiago (por supuesto también sin glúten). ¡Riquísimo todo! Además, antes de marcharnos, nos dijeron diferentes lugares donde poder ir a tomar algo para acabar de poner el broche de oro a la semana. Eternamente agradecida por el trato y el cuidado que “El Mesonet” nos ofreció y da a sus clientes, dejando tan buen sabor de boca que ya estamos pensando cuándo regresar de nuevo. No me estaré de recomendarlo, tanto a gente celíaca como a quien no lo sea. ¡Acierto asegurado!...

They charged us 15 euros for something that was 10 euros on the menu. We showed them and they said it’s a mistake on the menu. But they would still charge us the same. We explained that we ordered this dish because it was 10 euros, and that if it was 15 we wouldn’t have ordered it. We asked to pay the menu price until they correct their menu. They said a flat no and that even though it’s a mistake we have to pay it. We obviously paid in full. Also got charged 4 Euros for tap water. Total scam. Food was...
