I'm the type of person who goes to the supermarket everyday to decide what I'm gonna eat. I don't batch cook, I don't plan in advance, I don't fill the fridge on the week-end. 🤷♂️ I don't like being limited in my options to eat. And, when that happens, I never feel like eating what I have to. 😅 My wife is on a diet so there's a limited set of products she can eat. And I don't want her to feel too restricted so when I look for a place to eat out, I look for a place where most of the food they serve is ok for her diet... but then I feel restricted myself... F**k diet. 😤 Now what she can eat is 🥩 or 🐟, and since my son doesn't 💙 🐟, it's just 🥩. So last week we went to El Boliche del Gordo Cabrera, an 🇦🇷 place (and 🇦🇷 == 🥩). 1st 👍 point: they offer fried empanadas. You know that the best empanadas are the fried ones, right. Well, these ones were ok, though. 😓 Then we ordered the mixed grill. Usually, in an 🇦🇷 restaurant, the mixed grill is made of the cuts nobody wants, the cheap ones. Not there. My wife and I shared it but, TBH, we could have shared it with a 3rd person. Most of the cuts were perfectly cooked, except the short ribs. slightly overcooked. The skirt was excellent and super tender, the ribeye also was really tender and it was good. The rest was just ok. We also had mixed vegetables. They were ok... but €15 for €1 worth of produce (top) feels quite expensive. In the end, I think the best part was the dessert, a crepe filled with dulce de leche: delicious. 😋 The service was great: attentive and very professional. The decor of the place was beautiful. I really didn't expect that... based on the name, I thought the place would be darker and less elegant so kudos on the atmosphere. 👍 We paid €35 per person (shared 1️⃣ dessert, no 🍷)... but I think we did not order well and could have spent something like €20 / €25 and still have eaten well. Next time I'll be more cautious.

Read moreWe were given this restaurant as a suggestion from the Marriott Renaissance just down the street a few steps. This was two years ago. Each time we return to the Hotel we are sure to dine at the restaurant several times during our stay.
Compared to American steakhouses, this restaurant is a bargain and very, very good. The food is delicious, prepared by two of the most dedicated chefs you will find. The best seats in the restaurant are positioned where you can see the grill and the back cooking area. We always call dining at the restaurant “dinner and a show”. This is because if one of the chefs is not cooking, they are prepping meat, cheese or vegetables for upcoming meals. We always look to see how many baked potatoes are atop the grill to decide how busy they will be that evening.
Any steak is delicious, whether cooked on the grill or lightly seared and presented table side with a hibachi for you to finish to your liking. The tomato bread and melted provoletta are tasty and the empanadas are delicious. We have tried just about everything on the menu from dishes with foi, to pasta and fish. All have been excellent.
You will be shocked at the wine and liquor cellar contained within the walls of this restaurant and just how beautiful the dining area is once you walk through the small outside entry. The servers are very attentive and will be more than happy to help you with a selection if you are unsure of what to order. We have always been amazed at how efficiently this restaurant operates with just a small staff. Niurka and Monjit are wonderful.
We are in Barcelona now and on past stays, we have walked around the city and tried many restaurants. We just like the convenience of this restaurant and have alsways had a great dinner. For us it’s like going into our kitchen at home with a private chef preparing our dinner right before us.

I've been on vacation in Spain, exploring many cities from Madrid to Barcelona. I've encountered friendly people who speak both good and not-so-good English, but everyone has been warm and welcoming, except for this one place. Despite being a recommended restaurant with decent food, the service was so rude that I intentionally ordered less. I wish I had just left at that moment. Later, I even checked the menu, wondering if the prices were incorrectly presented. Despite my limited English, their rudeness wasn't justified. Attitude knows no borders. A restaurant with racial discrimination.
