I visited this restaurant based on its decent Google rating, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to expectations. The ambiance was nice enough—not bad, but not exceptional either. We ordered the seafood paella, which was disappointing. The rice was undercooked, and the portion size was quite small for two people, especially considering the price, which felt a bit steep. When I asked for lemon, the waiter said they charge extra for it, which felt unusual since lemon is typically a complimentary accompaniment with paella. Additionally, the dish was served without any aioli, and there was no extra plate provided for the shells, which made eating a bit inconvenient. Service was another letdown. Our server didn’t seem very engaged or enthusiastic, and the staff didn’t clear or change our plates after the entree, which impacted the overall dining experience. Having tried paella across various regions of Spain, including Andalusia, Galicia, Valencia, Asturias, and San Sebastián, this place felt mediocre in comparison. If you’re in Barcelona and looking for authentic paella, I would recommend exploring other options that offer better value and service.

I visited La Paella de su in Barcelona with family and had a very satisfying meal. We ordered the paella La del Abuelo Bernat, a meat-based paella that was cooked from scratch and worth the wait. The rice was perfectly done, flavorful without being heavy, and it had that freshly made quality you only get when the dish is prepared with care. Alongside it, we shared a cheese board and toasted bread with tomato and garlic, both simple but excellent accompaniments. The restaurant itself feels cozy and family friendly, with staff who are warm and attentive. They let us know upfront that the paella would take about an hour to prepare, which is expected when it is made properly, and the honesty was appreciated. Prices are in line with what you would expect from a serious paella restaurant in Barcelona, fair for the quality you receive. If you want a relaxed setting with a well executed paella that tastes authentically homemade, this is a solid choice.

We had dinner at this place for their paella since that’s what we were looking for and what could be a better place than the one with paella in it’s name. We arrived around 7 PM, early for the normal dinner time for locals which was probably why we got a table. This place seemed to be very busy otherwise given that many parties before us all had reservation. We ordered bread with tomato and garlic sauce. I really like garlic and was blown away by the garlic sauce. It has very strong garlic aroma but did not taste like pure garlic spread but instead tasted like garlic butter. We also ordered Arros al forn which has pork ribs, blood sausage, potatoes, tomato and chickpeas. It was really delicious and exactly what we were looking for. The only room for improvement for us was the blood sausage which was too salty for us. We ended up not finishing the blood sausage for that exact reason. Overall we were very happy with the paella.

Please! Run away from this restaurant! I ordered Paella but I saw the waiter add 2 plates for us. So I try to telling the waiter that I would like to have just one plate because my boyfriend doesn’t want to eat paella but the waiter explained it the rules that have to take 2 because we are two people Honestly I don’t get it why?! but i try to listen and understand about the rules that the waiter explaining to us then my boyfriend try to asking the waiter “How we can do if we want just only one paella?” The waiter answers us by asking us to “Leave” the restaurant I was shocked what the waiter treated us. So it is disappointing me and my heart a lot.!

So please everyone needs to know about this! I don’t know why we are unlucky that make the waiter asked us to leave!

ANSWER YOUR REPLY!

Thank you so much for reminding us that common courtesy and basic respect are clearly optional at your establishment. We came in with a reservation, dressed appropriately, ready to enjoy what was supposed to be a romantic dinner — not a live demonstration of how to humiliate customers over one shared plate of paella.

It’s impressive, really — the way your staff managed to turn a simple question into an international incident. We genuinely tried to understand your ‘rules’, despite the linguistic gymnastics required to decode the waiter’s English. We listened, asked politely, and made every effort to cooperate. But instead of finding solutions, we found ourselves being escorted out. What a warm and welcoming experience.

For the record, we are educated, well-traveled individuals who have dined across many countries — never have we been treated with such arrogance, passive aggression, and condescension over a plate of rice. And I am very happy not to spend any cents to you!!!!

To anyone thinking of visiting: if you’re looking for overpriced food, a side dish of rudeness, and a masterclass in how not to treat guests — this is the perfect place. “Have...

We had dinner here last week, drawn by the many positive reviews, but left disappointed. Sorry.

From the start, the staff were unfriendly—no eye contact, cold demeanor, and visibly grumpy when not serving. We ordered a salad with citrus, cheese, and fish (turned out salted cod). While it looked colorful and nice, the combination clearly didn’t work, and the fish was too salted. A neighboring table’s salad looked unappetizing—plain and overloaded with carrot shavings.

We were told that paella was only for two. Very fair enough, but what we received was clearly a single portion, somewhat proving it was possible to serve one. The waiter apologized but encouraged us to order one more portion, since this is a great opportunity to try something new, but the paella looked dry and I couldn't see much efforts and dedications. I kindly declined—and was glad I did. The taste was flat and just okay.

In the end, I am afraid to say I was just happy to avoid a larger serving of bland food. If you pay just a bit more elsewhere or even in the same price range, you can find top-notch paella and a much more pleasant dining experience.

Thank you for your reply. Let me add here my further comment to your reply, as you seem to be referring to a different customer(s). We simply selected food from the menu without adding any special requests or questions, we did not ask for extra cheese, and we did not ask a waiter at...

Our visit to this restaurant for paella turned out to be quite disappointing. The paella itself was a letdown - it was extremely salty and burnt around the edges. Despite this, we decided not to make a fuss and continued with our meal. However, the real surprise came when we received the payment receipt.

We were shocked to discover that the prices listed on the menu were calculated per person, not per portion, which is the standard practice in most restaurants. When we inquired about the portion size, the waiter mentioned that the dish was for two people but failed to clarify the pricing structure. This misleading information resulted in a much higher bill than expected.

To make matters worse, when we raised this issue, another staff member claimed that the waiter had poor English skills, which was simply not true. He also insisted that this was the first time anyone had encountered such an issue, which was a blatant lie. A quick look at other reviews revealed that many customers had faced the same problem.

For anyone considering this restaurant, I strongly advise checking out their responses to customer reviews on Google. Their unprofessionalism is evident in how they handle feedback. Save yourself the trouble and find a more honest and customer-friendly...
