The master chef is very nice. I saw her at YT, she is very energetic and works very hard.
The meal was pretty nice overall. However, it might be the location, it’s kind of pricey as the food quality and the combination of the taste were not very value for the price. The chilli red prawn was not as fresh as I expected. Might be I expected too much. 😛 The pork wonton soup, the whole red prawn was not as fresh as I expected as well. As I am an Asian, the taste of the soup was not a surprise for me. I thought the soup might be a fusion ingredient. It’s a wonton soup with shrimp taste. The soup might be a fresh taste for locals in BCN but not for Asian. The wonton was fresh but I’d recommend to add some shrimp inside the wonton for locals to taste, even though there’s a big prawn on the top of the dish.
The dish with Iberia ham and vegetable was average. The veg was not bad but with the ham was a bit simple. The dish was a bit salty as the ham was salty. The veg with less sea salt would be better. This was the dish not very value for money. A bit disappointed. But I like the veg.
The best was the garlic oil with the red shrimp. The oil was far better than the shrimp. I ate a lot of bread with the delicious oil. The fusion dessert of ginger panna cotta was perfect. Very soft and creamy with ginger after taste. Better than the traditional Italian one.
Overall, I might have too expected to the restaurant. However, the dishes were good and the portions were big as a tapas with other restaurants.
At final, I thank for the master chef to cook a delicious meal for me. The above is not the comment. The above is the recommendation to improve to be a higher level. Cos I know she can do...
Read moreUpdate December 2024. This review was blocked. Perhaps it was my photo of the Sense Seny business card. I removed that. It’s been a year since my appeal and they are “still processing.” So, I’m resubmitting without the business card. Hopefully, this will get posted. I’m not a shill, just a tourist on vacation in 2023. Check out my review of Circa 1905 which is a block over from Sense Seny. This was a true review of our experience. If it is too good to be true, I add this one criticism. I did not like the pork ribs with a mole’ type sauce, but my wife did.
This is truly a remarkable eatery. It is small and unpretentious. The cuisine is new-style tapas with an Asian influence. I was surprised though to find a tall, bilingual, Nordic or Dutchman (my guess anyway) running the place. I imagined that he was a refugee from a Michelin-starred place where the main dishes are carefully portioned with teaspoons.
We had a great salad with gourmet greens, brie, raisins, and nuts. The mushroom wontons were great and the truffle cream for dipping was even better. The patatas bravas were artfully presented, crispy, and with both a mild and a spicy sauce. I didn't care for the spicy Asian BBQ ribs but my date loved them. For dessert we chose the warm brownies, two per serving, with fresh cold whipped cream. As another reviewer here described them, they were slightly crispy on the outside while soft and tender inside. They reminded me of Katherine Hepburn’s brownies, if you are familiar with that famous movie star’s recipe.
The setting was quiet, clean, and modern, again with a slight Asian influence. The bill was shockingly low for the food and...
Read moreOriginally we had planned on eating at another restaurant nearby but the line was so long we begrudgingly followed Google to another restaurant close by. They say there’s always silver lining… well, this decision was lined in GOLD.
I love a good French + Japanese fusion. But this is my first time having Chinese + Spanish Tapas fusion. I was tentative when I saw that the menu reflected Cantonese and Chinese cuisine influences because even though I love Chinese food, I didn’t come all the way to Barcelona for that!! And I also wasn’t imaginative enough to mesh the flavor profiles in my mind and thought it would might be carelessly slapped together with spices that overpower each other. Boy, was I happy to be wrong. The food was good. It was thoughtful, precise, and balanced.
My husband is not a picky eater but he’s not easily impressed either, my mom is hard to please, we allllll loved the food. They were nice to my 3 year old toddler that was being a bit rowdy. And overall we had a great experience. The only small issue was the timing of the dishes- it took a little longer than we would have liked with a sleepy toddler ( 15 minutes between each dish) , but if you’re not too hungry or if you’re not coming with a young child, it should be okay. The food is worth the wait.
I would highly recommend any friends to come here when in Barcelona.
We forgot to take photos of the rest 🤣🤣 but here are some from our visit. Personal favourite:...
