El Txoko (Pintxos Vascos / Cenar en Benidorm) — Restaurant in Benidorm

Not the best in my opinion. We had paella, the rice was hard and meal covered in oil. €14.99 per person for it, I didn't think it was worth the money.

Atmosphere was okay, though kept playing the same queen song on repeat... very loud at times for no reason at all.

Service was questionable, either very rushed or nothing at all. I felt I was in a British tourist trap and was only taken seriously once they realised I was in fact fluent in Spanish and could express exactly my thoughts.

Looking around at other people's food, it looked bland and boring, not very authentic Spanish, but can't understand what vibe the restaurant is going for? It certainly brings in the British tourists rather than Spanish.

5 of us visited for lunch. No problems at all with food all very good. 4 had menu very good value. However I ordered a steak which was much more expensive. No problem at all as that is what I wanted. Because of this I was charged for bread which I did not order. Charged for butter which I did not have. Charged almost 13 euros for a bottle of house wine. Which others were given half bottle each free of charge. One companion ordered an extra glass of wine 🍷and Charged 1.20 for large glass of same wine that I was drinking! Not great, sat inside as it was a cool evening, waited 10 mins to be served, another 10 for drinks to be served, we noticed the floor was unclean under the next table, spilled food & drink ignored, our table seemed ok, thought it was a small eatery, but food was cooked 20 metres up the alleyway, Tapas seemed OK, except for meatballs they were extremely pink inside, basically uncooked, we complained & they took them back, no apology & didn't replace them,,, they were still on the bill though, so another complaint till the cost was taken off ,still no apology, we left and will not return.
