When we walked by the first time I noticed it was a Michelin recommended restaurant. Once back to our apartment I made a reservation for the next day as it was our one year anniversary. We went the next day and received bad attention so after waiting, we left. Later that day I received a message from the manager as later I received the a message from Google reservation alerting me that we were missed at the restaurant. I responded to this message with the reason that we left. A few hours later I received an apology from the manager on what's app inviting to make another reservation to visit the restaurant again. I did for the next day, but we missed our bus. I texted the restaurant that we would be late. The manager responded no problem and moved our reservation 30 minutes later. When we arrived, we were greeted with very attentive service and presented menus in Spanish and English. The food here is very fresh and contemporary flavors are married with local ingredients making a somewhat unique cuisine. We started with the croquetas of the day [ham] and the sardines with olive tapenade on dry toast. Then we had the raw tuna and guacamole cones, and papas bravas. Still having room for more taste we did the scallops marinated in amontidilla with lemon balls. All the flavors were amazing and very good combinations. We were stuffed, so it was time for a coffee and a dessert, the almond creme wafer with almond ice creme. This food experiences is pretty amazing for this city taking tapas to the next level as we had some great food experiences. Now I must disclose, we were totally surprised when I ordered the check and the manager said we were invitamos. Wow...this shows me it is always a good idea to let a restaurant know when it's bad and when it...
Read moreWe've been around many Michelin restaurants and are wondering how this one it got its star, 3 years in a row. We don't get it. Sitting in the street is cozy and local. The staff was attentive and fast, and gave good recommendations, but things fell through the cracks. First we got a wonderful sardin starter, and then an interesting shrimp tartar, but from here the quality faded. Afterwards we got a BAO with great taste but it stuck to the paper and fell apart and we found fishbones in both BAO's. Our food ended up all over the table, which was never really cleaned. We then got our shared dish, which was tuna in 3 forms on nudles and browned onion, it was nice, but not outstanding. The wine suggesting to the tuna was really god, though. But this is not a Michelin restaurant. Then again it was "cheap". Maybe narrowing the selection, upping the quality and price would bring them within the window of a star...
Read moreYour waiters should really learn some English. They seem nice people, but it is impossible to communicate with them if you don’t know Spanish. I asked for advice before ordering, but got answers in gesticulations and sounds such as “mmm.” I had no idea what I was ordering.
Steak tartare was the worst we have ever eaten - onion and other stuff were overwhelming, you could hardly taste any meat over all other ingredients. Tuna with tomato sauce dish was bland and some tuna chunks were completely raw. I ate only because I was really hungry and didn’t want to argue.
We ordered a beer and a big bottle of water to share and got only 1 glass.
Maybe other dishes are better, but both tuna dishes were recommended by the waiter (who pointed at them with his finger).
Honestly, I have no idea how you got the Michelin recommendation. You should try harder.
3/5 is because tuna...
