La Nueva Riva — Restaurant in Jerez

Ate here following disappointing tour, sherry tasting and tapas at Tio Pepe. La Nueva Riva offers 5 Sherries - Fino, Oloroso, Amontillado, Cream and Pedro Jiminez for 6 Euro's currently which is amazing value compared to TP. Try the Tostas (different fish and cheese on toasted french style bread), deep fried anchovies and chicken croquettes. Vegan and veggie options are also available with the menu in English as well as Spanish. The young man serving us was very keen on practising his more than adequate English and helpful and efficient - explained the Pedro Jiminez was a very sweet Sherry and his favourite when we asked as TP didn't offer it at the tasting. Pleasantly situated restaurant not far from the Cathedral and Alcazar in a small 'plaza' with smart, contemporary tables, parasols and tablewear. If I can put more stars, I would! This place was simply delicious and the service was amazing. What a way to enjoy a nice afternoon in Jerez!

We ordered the eggplant croquetas, carrillada, artichokes, shrimps with garlic, and the cazon. Everything was A M A Z I N G!

We also decided to try different Jerez wines, and Manuel was kind enough to explain us everything. Also, the attention from his son was incredible. So we only can say thank you for making everything perfect.

We came here pretty much after closing and were met with the very friendly waitress Irene (?) who was very understanding of us not speaking any Spanish. Still, communication was great and we managed to order what we wanted and even got some helpful advise on the way.
