El Anzuelo is one of those special places that turns enjoyment of one's holiday into a love affair. It would be hard to imagine a more perfect spot to have lunch and the beaches and harbour of Corralejo make a stunning backdrop for a leisurely lunch. There are a few negative reviews here of El Anzuelo but I would urge anyone not to be swayed by these and to take the plunge. Anyone who understands restaurants will know that a truly bad restaurant will never be anything but bad, while an exceptional one will occasionally slip up but the vast majority of the time will produce the goods. El Anzuelo is undoubtedly in the latter class and if anything did go wrong the staff are so engaging and good humoured that a complaint delivered with grace is hardly likely to be ignored. That is true of all quality restaurants. The food is what it's all about in the end and you'll not be disappointed. I came here for seafood Paella and it is very good. Rice properly al dente and good ingredients which clearly include real saffron and not some egregious food colouring substitute so common in many restaurants. Canarian potatoes (order one portion for two because the servings are enormous) are perfectly cooked so they melt in your mouth. When ordering wine the half caraf is extremely generous. I'm sure I got five glasses out of mine! Peak times are busy so I strongly recommend booking a table if you want to guarantee a spot by the sea. All in all this is a magical place and if Salvo Montalbano was on holiday in Fuerteventura and pining for Enzo al Mare his spirits would be lifted by lunch at El Anzuelo. Follow lunch with a gentle stroll away from busy central Corralejo along the Paseo Marítimo Bristol on the other side of the harbour. Eat here....
Read moreSo looking forward to a Lobster and seafood evening with my good wife and happy to spend good money for some fine dining.Right !!!.. starters was OK,although the prawns were not cleaned as they should be (had to do that before eating ) as you would expect from even a mildly fine restaurant. Then the main.... we were very much led to believe the the lobster we would eat was fresh and came from the tank of live lobsters and even shown which type we could expect. When it came it was simply not right, one mouthful and it went back ,jelloid yet sinewy ? the second (if it was another ? did not anything leave the tank..didn't look first time ) when it came 20 minutes on was no better, just tougher, hard to put up with.Wifes appetite was well and truly done. I dont know but I suspect the tank is just show and they use frozen then microwave and grill, what ever the reason you expect more at 35-85 eu a plate. My seafood grill consisted of two pieces of fish and half a head, with fresh eyeball, one piece of white fish was OK and edible , the second was lumpy salt and was not,the half head you can keep. We paid for the drinks and starters and left. They were lucky they got anything really. Dont be fooled by the face of this place,it looks good, every thing seems right at first.....it is not.do not waist your money here.... A blot on the landscape for a loverly...
Read moreTo Whom It May Concern at El Anzuelo,
I rarely write complaints, but my recent experience at your establishment compels me to speak up—not out of anger, but out of disbelief. I visited El Anzuelo with high hopes and left with a stomach full of regret, and not much else.
Let’s begin with the service, which seemed to operate in slow motion, except without any of the grace. We waited nearly 25 minutes to be acknowledged, and another 40 for food that arrived lukewarm and suspiciously uninspired. I ordered what was described as a “signature dish,” but the only signature I could detect was the unmistakable taste of indifference. The fish, supposedly fresh, had the texture of a long-lost freezer relic, while the sides looked as if they were plated by someone who resents vegetables entirely.
The ambiance, while promising in its decor, was drowned out by what I can only describe as a playlist curated by someone actively trying to repel diners. Add to this a sticky table, a missing fork, and a bathroom experience best left undescribed—and you’ve got a night to forget.
In short, El Anzuelo lured me in, but instead of a catch, I ended up the bait.
Sincerely, A...
