Venta El Gomero — Restaurant in La Orotava

We had a fantastic lunch at this little place - we were planning to have just a quick bite, but it was all so good that we had a fair bit more than we intended to! The local cheeses and tomatoes are superb, not to mention the marinated meat. We also indulged in the 'huevos a la estampida', which is not the best option if you're calorie counting or watching your cholesterol levels, but delicious nonetheless. We were recommended a lovely red from the area which went perfectly with the lunch - Quíquere. The best tapas we've tried on the island, the atmosphere is so lovely as the place always has a great buzz! The staff are so friendly and helpful, actually tell you if you are ordering too much which is always a good suggestion as we would've left half our food otherwise! We got some amazing suggestions of what we should have along with the complimentary bread - almogrote which I wish I could bring home it's beautiful! He de decir que siempre me ha encantado el sitio por las tapas que tienen, y la relación calidad precio no es mala. Pero ya no volveré más, porque el viernes pasado llamé sobre las 11 de la mañana para hacer una reserva para dos personas para las 13.30, pues bien, la señora que me atiende, me dice que a esa hora no hay problema, así que llego a las 13.30, y no había mesa para dos,por lo que no me reservaron ninguna ,con lo que me sientan en una de 4 personas. Mi acompañante iba a llegar a las 14.00 pero a mí me apetecía llegar un poco antes e ir tomando algo mientras esperaba, por eso reservé para las 13.30, para mí sorpresa, me llevo un rapapolvo de la camarera, una mujer peninsular, que me dice que no puedo estar ocupando una mesa de cuatro personas y tener la mesa parada media hora sin pedir comida, porque le rompo el servicio, (yo me había pedido una caña mientras tanto, no estaba sin pedir nada) y me lo dijo muy indignada y con mal gesto, que me hizo sentir fatal, casi me levanto y me voy, porque yo reservé para dos, no es mi culpa que me hayan sentado en una de cuatro, (básicamente porque no me hicieron ninguna reserva) de hecho, me lo dijo "ves, por cosas como estas no hacemos reserva" total que le digo entonces sacame un plato de pata mientras tanto, y me dice que no, que hay que pedirlo todo junto. Resulta que una no puede ir a tomar algo y pedir una copa y algo de picar mientras llega su acompañante, habiendo hecho reserva....acojonante. si llego a reservar una mesa para 6 y estoy yo sola, lo entiendo, pero por dos personas y me sientas en una de cuatro pq no me guardaste una de dos....pues lo siento pero pésima gestión....
