First of all what I describe here is the whole feedback of the specialty coffee scene in Madrid . With some very very few exceptions !
Guys the specialty coffee means a lot , it’s not just a hip trendy thing that you can use it in order to improve your marketing .
Dirty set up cannot support specialty coffee . So please reconsider of learning how clean set up should be or stop using the term of specialty coffee . You will still make money anyways 😉
When you serve specialty coffee and good food- bakery stuff etc . (as you want to promote ) then please take into consideration that the service should be friendly and always in mood to serve kindly and with at least a small eye contact in the busy times . Just throwing the plates with food in front of the customers who ordered them is not speciality .
The coffees were just basic ,nothing to remember and nothing to remind you of specialty coffee .
The prices is the last thing that I check when I travel and visit speciality coffee places . But please inside a space that is so „cheaply“ decorated and whole construction looks super amateur try to charge analogically to what you serve as a whole experience and not according to what you think that you do .
Good think : cardamom bun ,tasty and super balanced in terms of sweetness spiciness and softness...
Read moreVery nice cafè, unique atmosphere, the coffee was ok, the prices are high and the attitude is just a bit too much. However, definitely worth a visit. The pastries are very well made.
recommendation: the ricotta bowl. Really really tasty, all home made and unique. Also, it has been prepared just in front of me - so it was quite special.
Vegetarian options: plenty - both the food and the pastries.
working space: not really a good place for working, and with a little bit of attitude. They do not have Wi-Fi, nor electricity connections. The lady there told me that laptops are strictly permitted in the “grey zone” by the corridor, if even (even though the place was almost empty). And that the place is not working suitable, and more oriented for people to “enjoy the coffee and music” (seriously???). The did it kindly and with a smile, so I forgave the attitude and silly answer, with some eyes rolls 🙄
English service: yes, the waitress was actually an English speaker.
prices: quite pricey (especially the coffee)
music & style: both great - young, chill and modern music that accompanies the well decorated brutalist style in red and white cafè.
what did I have ? The (great) ricotta bowl (8,5€ + 1€ for two slices of homemade sourdough bread). Plums’ danish (4,5€) and a cortado....
Read moreA blend of Berlin’s design sensibilities and a French bakery atmosphere: the interior is appealing, and the small menu features French classics such as pain au chocolat (though unfortunately overcooked and too airy) and cinnamon buns (still too cooked on the outside) etc … Coffee is served strictly as a double espresso, with no option for extra hot water, on the side—the reply to my polite request was a firm, “We don’t do Americano.” The coffee preparation feels almost doctrinaire: if you find your espresso too strong, that’s your problem. Personally, I enjoy an espresso lengthened with a bit of hot water—my taste, my right. No?
Sadly, the coffee was overly bitter, with a burnt aftertaste. The pan con tomate was good, but since we are in Spain…. When I asked if my toast could be kindly sliced in half, the waiter had to consult with the manager, giving an impression of hesitation over a simple request.
Madrid is full of tourists who genuinely love the city ( my 20th time)—please, don’t treat...
