We were served by Eli, who patiently took our order and helped us choose alternatives when the items we originally wanted ran out just before our eyes. The cake we ended up with, instead of the cheesecake we had hoped for, was tasty and not too sweet.
We also had our first torrija—a traditional Spanish treat that, while often lazily referred to abroad as “Spanish French toast,” is quite different and really shouldn't be called that (and rightly so!). Eli explained the typical ingredients that go into making torrija, such as orange, lemon, and cinnamon. She even suggested we try sprinkling a little cinnamon on top after tasting it, which we did—and it really enhanced the flavour.
The cappuccino was also good—a rare find in Spain based on our experiences so far, where coffee often tends to be over-roasted and ends up tasting burnt or overly sour.
One small issue: the Google Maps card we were given, with a QR code for leaving a review, led to an invalid URL. Hopefully Panishop can look into that.
And finally, I just love the clever play on words in the name...
