The ambient of the place is amazing! We went for a movie and we loved that you can take food with you to the movie theater which has small tables between seats. We ordered aperol spritz, beer and chicken finger. Food was delicious and a big enough portion. The beer is expensive than normal but maybe it is normal for a place like this. Aperol spritz was not amazing but it was quiet good. So overall we were happy with food and drinks. In the movie theater i recommend sitting on row 4-5 since the room is small and in the first two rows you would be really close to the screen. The photos are from row 4. When we arrived on Friday at around 6:45 it was calm inside with not so many people. When we were entering the theater around 19:10 it started to get crowded inside. And when we were leaving at around 22:15 it seemed full inside maybe with only few places left to sit.

It used to be Duque de Alba movie theater, witch was built in the courtyard of a neoclassical mansion that used to house from 1913 to 1933 the liberal newspaper El Imparcial, it opened its doors to Madrid's film-going public in 1941. By the mid-80s, after screening Hollywood classics and art-house films, it was turned into erotic film cinema that operated for almost three decades until it was forced torclose down in 2015. Renovated by Madrid based architectural practice Plantea Estudio and renamed: "Sala Equis" the new venue, apart from movie screenings also hosts live music performances and exhibitions. I liked the place, but I wish there were more popcorn flavour tastes!

Very good idea: the cinema that was used for other purposes ("X") until 90-ties, that were so many in Spain after Franco's death, with the Internet were closed. This one was conserved as it was, but became a bar with the popcorn and the movies... Very good idea, but I did not like it to stay for a long time... Interesting as a piece of history, probably even the black and white movie was not bad - I do not know, but in general it is not the type of environment that I like to have a drink. But it could be curious to show to some tourists :)))

Very cool place with all the old theatre signs and screen still above the bar. The pints (beer) from the tap was among the best I've had in the city, nice and cold. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. The only downside to this place and why it's only 4 stars, is the seating. There is not much seats available so if it is busy it will be a pain to find a good comfortable place to sit and it can become quite crowded quickly. The line for the bar can be long at times but it usually moves fast enough.

This is just the kind of place that makes you fall in love with Madrid, the kind of hangout that you go to with your friends during the day or with your date during an evening. Beside the movie theatre that is always featuring an interesting one, the patio where you can casually sit on the stairs and sip on your wine or on the chaise longues and nibble on some homy patatas bravas, stands out with the outdoor cinema feel and the charming decoration. One lovely spot for all tastes..
