A finals de l'any 2020 tancava les portes i aleshores, els seus amos, Jose Ramón i Encarni, somiaven que el traspàs del local i de la carta es fessin efectius. Dit i fet, passats uns mesos Rafael Riqueni, veí de tota la vida del barri i assidu al Bar Melos, estava fent números i convencent el seu amic de la infància, Ignacio Revuelta, per fer el seu somni realitat. Ho van aconseguir! Van convèncer amb la seva proposta de mantenir-ho tot, el local, la carta i l'essència de l'antic Bar Melos. A nosaltres ens van donar una alegria en saber que un dels locals més coneguts de Lavapiés tornava a obrir les portes i que, a més, es continuaria amb la tradició. El 'Bar Melos' no deixa de ser un bar dels de tota la vida, dels bars en què es fa família, el punt de reunió dels amics i, en aquest cas, on gaudir de menjar del tota la vida amb un origen gallec. La carta continua sent reduïda, tal com era, però és que perquè tornar-se boig si l'important és que allò que fas, ho facis bé. Els nous amos han volgut mantenir aquesta idea i continuar donant continuïtat a la carta, encara que pel que hem llegit potser incloguin alguna petita novetat. Tal és la idea de continuista que els antics amos els han ensenyat les receptes (excepte la de les croquetes) i els han presentat als seus proveïdors perquè tot pugui continuar de la mateixa manera. Per cert, al Bar Melos no es reserva. Els caps de setmana és una autèntica bogeria la gent que es congrega a les seves taules ia la part exterior per asseure's en una de les seves taules.
