More of a 3.5 star place but I can’t give half stars. The location is convenient and the restaurant has a pleasant cozy space but tables are super tiny which means your food will only come out one plate at a time. Speaking of the food, it was tasty and was of good quality. We had seafood soup (tasty but over salted) gamba roja de denia, sailor style clams, and grilled scallops. The prices were ok for such a touristy area.
I was taken aback by how cold and rude our hostess was. Despite being an American tourist who is not a Spanish speaker, I always start with a polite greeting in Spanish whenever I enter a business. She was brusque and seemed annoyed when I asked what was in the Gallego broth and made things even more tense and weird after I asked her what the wifi password was. She told us they didn’t have wifi. Well clearly they did because they had two networks with the restaurant name. I then asked another worker after she abruptly walked away after taking our order. The older gentleman (who was more polite) then asked one of the other servers who came over and wrote down the password. Immediately after she returned to her station, the rude one seemed to have started sternly lecturing her for an uncomfortably long few minutes. If the wifi is only for the staff, that is totally fine, just tell me that because there’s no reason to be dismissive. Her attitude seemed to put others on edge because the atmosphere of the place felt super unwelcoming. It’s typical of cheap, greasy fast food places to have behavior like that, but misplaced at a normal sit down restaurant.
After we paid the bill, the server and the older gentleman thanked us. The grumpy hostess didn’t even acknowledge us. Food may be good, but not good enough to warrant another visit or a recommendation to...
Read moreWe asked seafood for 2, the white wine was included in the dish, we asked dessert and coffee all for more or less 30€. Very good price quality. It was delicious really fresh, in my opinion missing just a bit of juice to dump the bread in. For me and my daughter it was enough but if it was for example my sister and her boyfriend, or for 2 men, the dish for 2 would not be enough, but still yammyyyy. The place is beautiful, we feel and dream beach. The service is perfect and smiles everywhere. Recommend 100 %. PS. The photo of the plate just 2 stares because we already hate the 3rd. Recomendo...
Read moreToday on recommendation of our Spanish guide we visited El Cucurucho Del Mar restaurant for a dinner. Everything was excellent until we ordered a desert. By chance we saw that the girl who was preparing it, dropped a cocktail straw on the floor and after that picked it up and inserted it into the glass. I asked her what she was doing, after which she calmly prepared a new dessert without even apologizing. I called the managers, told them the story, but they didn’t even seem to understand why I was angry. She brought you a new dessert, didn’t she? - said one of the staff members. After this, it seems absolutely natural that no one apologized to us not to mention offering some kind of discount or compliment. But the main thing that comes to mind after such incidents is that the food you are eating was before trampled underfoot by someone. I’ll never come again to El Cucurucho Del Mar again and you are not advised...
