Have generally found TGIF's to be reasonably consistent ... but unlikely to be confused with 'fine dining'. A miserable cold and wet 'peak of mid summer' August Dublin forced out the woolies and brollies for a quick sprint from our hotel to a TGIF just around the corner. Excellent, perhaps the best we've ever experienced. Sublime eye fillet steak, juicy, fall off the bone ribs, extortionate 'screw the tourist' wine prices. What could be better?
Through London with another "let's compare TGIF's", and on to Madrid for another "let's compare".
Madrid ... no eye fillet on menu, 'supreme (?) rib eye' best offer ... 'Scotch fillet' to many tourists. Scotch fillet not too bad, a bit thin and scrappy, acceptably tender, not in the eye fillet league (except, curiously, considering Spain's low value economy, the €23.00 price). Mean quantity of sides including uninspiring potato wedges mixed with a very small serve of capsicum & onion, a couple of Tom thumb tomatoes, and a watery, bland looking warmed tomato half. Ribs excellent, juicy, moist and remarkably consistent across Dublin, London and Madrid. Sides in Madrid consisted of rather pale and limp shoestring (ish) fries/chips.
Looking for a (chain outlet) steak experience to savour? Try TGIF Dublin or London ... Madrid not the 'pointy end' of the TGIF experience.

Read moreMyself, my wife and daughter went here twice on our short 4 day visit to Madrid. Service and waiters are incredibly attentive. Portions are great size and it's exactly the same as what you get in The US were the brand was born. It's real simple, yet very filling food. You only need one dish each, no need for starters then a plate each. Either share a bunch of starters and skip second plates. Or just a order a main plate each. You'll never get to the dessert anyway as it's all just too filling. Great for a quick lunch or early dinner. Very clean, friendly atmosphere and drinks are freely refilled. Kitchen could be a bit quicker, but then again when the place is full hardly their fault. I recommend lunch rather than dinner service as it's much quieter and then you'll know how you fare, hunger wise, in the evening. You probably wont need a big dinner after this place. House Glazed Ribs are spectacular, as is the full nacho combo. The burgers are faultless. Definitely worth the visit in case your in...
Read moreOh boy. TGI Friday? More like Oh Boy It's Monday. Please NEVER eat here! Walked by and thought to try TGIF here in Madrid, and it has been one of my worst food decisions in life! We ordered the ultimate Jack Daniel's burger, which in the menu says that you could order an extra sauce, but then they don't tell you that they charge you extra for asking it! We also ordered the chicken sandwich, not good at all. VIPS is way better than the ones we had. We also ordered the spicy ribs, which was incredibly small and dry, definitely not worth the price. The service was even worse than the food! The waitress could not memorise our orders and even got our orders wrong. Interestingly enough, 2 glasses of drinks took them the longest to prepare. Funnily enough, as I am writing this review, the table right across called the manager and complained about the food and service as well. I don't blame him if he had to have his order returned twice. LOL. Save yourselves and DO NOT COME HERE!
P.s. 5 euros for a...
