4.5 stars ⭐️ I finally got the chance to dine at the famous L’Entrecôte Café de Paris in Madrid, and it was a good experience overall. The restaurant is very popular, usually requiring a booking, so I was happy to snag a table. The menu is straightforward with only one option: a simple but delicious starter salad with olive oil and vinaigrette, followed by the main dish of steak in their signature butter sauce. The butter comes solid and is served on a small flame heater that melts it and keeps the steak warm, which is a nice touch. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking, with five levels of doneness to choose from, ranging from very rare to well done. It’s accompanied by unlimited fries, which is a great perk.
For dessert, I tried several options. The crème brûlée and profiterole were my favorites, but the tiramisu was a bit underwhelming.
Service was good and efficient, and the restaurant’s elegant atmosphere added to the experience. I also appreciated the attention to detail, like the two sets of cutlery, which you’d expect in a quality establishment.
However, the steak portion was on the smaller side for a €25 dish — I could have easily eaten twice as much. The bread served was also slightly stale, which was a minor letdown.
Overall, it’s a good spot, but I’d dock 0.5 stars mainly for the price versus portion size...
Read moreWe were hungry. Also, it was getting late for lunch. We had no idea what to expect when the staff explained that the place offered one menu selection which turned out to be a salad, a roll, steak and dessert.
The food was very good. The salad dressing was so light, tasty and unique that when I got home from my trip then I purchased a higher quality white vinegar. I am trying to reproduce their dressing by combining that ingredient with good olive oil and seasoning. I have mostly been into a balsamic or dijon dressing. The experience expanded my thinking on that offering. I had never had meat kept warm in sauce before. We were a bit skeptical as we like things medium rare and good meat often does not need more than salt. However, the meat was rare enough to handle the warming and the sauce light in taste. We felt good after lunch. We made a good choice!
The ambience was quite lovely with wood and nice windows.
The staff was very attentive.
The wine by the glass (Tarsas -Roble 2025 from Ribera de Duero) was quite good. I started looking for a similar bottle at other restaurants as by the glass wine can be very mediocre while this glass was memorable.
Thanks for a great...
Read moreVisited this place today, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. The entrecot was good—cooked just right and served with a nice portion of potatoes and a fresh salad. Honestly, the food was spot on.
However, the service left something to be desired. We weren’t told there was a set time for our table, so it was a bit of a shock when we were abruptly asked to leave. It felt quite rude, especially considering there was space at the bar where we could have continued enjoying our evening, but no one offered us that option—we had to figure it out ourselves.
To top it off, one of the bartenders seemed to have a bit of an attitude. Every time we asked for something, he gave us a less-than-pleasant look and a sigh, which added an unnecessary tension to the experience. It’s a shame because the food was great, but the overall atmosphere from the staff made it less desirable for us to...
