PerretxiCo - A Basque Adventure Filled with Pintxos and Playfulness!
If you're in the mood for a pint-sized pintxos party, look no further than PerretxiCo! This restaurant is as small as a secret ingredient in a top chef's recipe, so remember to book ahead or risk spending your evening with a cold microwave dinner.
Upon entering PerretxiCo, you'll be transported to a charming taverna straight out of a Basque movie. Make sure to brush up on your tapas terminology because this joint takes its Basque cuisine seriously.
The menu at PerretxiCo is a delightful mix of traditional pintxos and tapas with a twist. The chef's creative flair and whimsical presentation will have you feeling like you've stepped into a food-themed hipster playground.
Now, let's talk about the atmosphere. It's warm, it's cozy, and it's the kind of place where you'll find modern decor rubbing shoulders with a rustic backdrop. It's like a hipster fairy tale collided with a lumberjack convention, and the result is strangely enchanting. I half expected to see a plaid-clad gnome sipping a craft beer at the bar.
The staff at PerretxiCo are as friendly as a Labrador puppy, and they're more than willing to guide you through the perplexing world of tapas and pintxos. However, it's worth noting that I can't vouch for their English skills. So, if your Spanish is rusty, you might want to bring along a translation app or a pocket-sized language tutor. Who knows, you might end up discovering a new sign language for ordering patatas bravas.
Now, let's get to the food, shall we? One standout dish that left me swooning in gastronomic bliss was the Torrija. Imagine warm, sweet, and creamy goodness, like a dessert cuddled up in a cozy blanket. It's the kind of treat that makes you want to compose sonnets or start a fan club. But fair warning, devouring one too many Torrijas might result in an impromptu nap under the table.
So, my dear food enthusiasts, if you're in the mood for a Basque adventure filled with pintxos, playful presentations, and the potential for linguistic misadventures, make your way to PerretxiCo. Just remember to reserve your spot in this gastronomic wonderland, and prepare yourself for a culinary experience that'll have you waltzing with your taste buds in delight. Bon appétit, my...
Read moreI am writing in English so visitors and Spaniards can understand: I am a FREQUENT visitor of this location and have always loved it. Last week, some friends and I called ahead (it was late) to see if we could still order. We were told there was no more table space but we could eat at the bar. After taking an Uber across town, we arrived and were pleasantly greeted by the usual staff. One kind waiter came to take our order but was quickly interrupted by another who was so angry that we were ordering and SCREAMED that we could not order as the kitchen was closed to those at the bar but still open for those at the table. Aside from the lack of communication, his behavior was embarrassing for everyone. Literally screaming at other members of the staff (who all reacted very calmly), he SCREAMED in the face of all of us to the point he was red and nose flaring. All of us were really shaken up and distraught. It was the most disgusting behavior and manner in which I’ve ever received in any restaurant. For this man, we will NEVER go back. Aside from that, we have already told many friends who are frequent visitors the same-we live in the neighborhood and will be sure to continue to pass on the information so no one else experiences what we did. This cannot and should not happen. I’m happy to communicate with a manager and/or an owner to disclose who the man was and hopefully be helpful, or perhaps I will just write it in the hoja de reclamación I will request...
Read moreWent for dinner with a group of 6 people total. We made a reservation the same days and were nicely welcomed.
The place has a variety of food and can accomodate people with different food restrictions.
We ordered many dishes to share and some individual pintxos. Absolutely everything was tasty, balanced and beautifully served. My favorite dishes include the pintxo of foie, artichokes, risotto and the beef ribs was absolutely the star of the night.
I was also positively surprised by the tinto de verano.
The service was also great. Our waiter was very friendly, made good reccomendatioms, was very considerable with some people at our table that had dietary restrictions, and everything was timely served.
Not, but the palce is quite nice and is definitely worth the price (25 eur pp) . Would be back for sure!
