The cocido Madrileño excellent. The ambience was nice and my first impression was,"I like this place". We did have a reservation, and all started off wonderful...until the place started filling up and people walking in with no reservation. The waiter was excellent but the owner (woman), was obviously in a rush to get us out of there and do another round on our table. Plates were whisked off as soon as finished, and I was patient until we finished our dessert and in her rush to clean off our table, with too many plates in her hand dropped the coffee cup on my jacket, and said "good thing it was empty". There is always the last drop in the cup. I looked at my jacket and effectively some had spilled. As we unhappily left the restaurant 2 of the couples who were waiting for our table were nearby, for the phone call to say a...

Went looking for authentic cocido madrileno...Quiet street, lovely traditional restaurant serving exactly what we were looking for! Ramon, accompanied by two other servers, guided us through a dining journey unlike anything we three midwesterners have ever experienced! A perfectly matched wine, thin sliced ham and olives preceded our main course of Cocida. Ramon answered all of our questions and taught us how to best enjoy this marvelous dish! The delicious apple dessert, coffee and after dinner liqueur capped off a perfect meal! This great food and this wonderful staff came together in this restaurant to create a dining experience that we will never forget! Enjoying dinner at La Rayua is a “Must do” in Madrid! Gracias to all of the staff...And to Ramon, a special thank you for your kindness...

I do suggest ordering from their Spanish menu as it's different when advised by the waiter when we request an English menu. The items are apparently different, and if you're looking for authentic cuisine, use Google serach/translate.

I highly recommend Rabo de Toro Estofado (Oxtail) and especially the Callos a la Madileña (Tripe)! I have tried many versions of Tripe, but never one that is as tasty and one that is as tender as theirs. The leftover sauce was delicious to the complimentary bread, too!

Also, their house white and red wine was tasty if you're not looking for anything particular.

The back end of the restaurant is cooler with air conditioning with cute...

They kept us wait in the rain. Their opening time for dinner is 8pm. I arrived at 8:25pm and door was locked. I called them and the man in the phone told me we can enter at 8:30pm. We had waited for 5 more mins in the rain but the door was still locked. I called again at 8:30 to ask what's going on and the man said they will open in another 15 mins. The door was deadly locked and it's like telling us keep waiting in the rain. I am really annoyed as the man didn't even sorry in the phone or said we can enter and wait. Well, I have another choice. But I'm very offended being played in a very rainy day.
