Postas — Restaurant in Madrid

I was walking in the tourist area near the city center Sol and I found this location. Calamari is their specialty along with other tapas. Now what I found interesting about this place is that no one is really speaking English in the place of the people who are sitting down.

I had a feeling it was like a local place in the middle of the tourist zone.

Now the price is right cause you five bucks for that calamari in bread.

How did it taste well I have to say that kinda long little chewy very tasty if you want some sauce to have this killer mayonnaise with garlic in it for you garlic gloves it will tear you up.

Do not get overwhelmed with the menu or servers, which I was at the first. Everyone simply ordered bocadillo calamares, and simply follow the flow. Maybe their bocadillo doesn't look as nice or as high quality as ones from other neighbor bars, but somehow I liked the one from Postas the best. Este bar es toda una institución en Madrid, siempre figura en los listados de locales donde sirven los mejores bocadillos de calamares de la capital. Ese es todo un reclamo para este establecimiento muy cercano a la plaza Mayor, un símbolo gastronómico propio de la ciudad. Tengo que reconocer que hace años que lo frecuento, la primera vez me trajeron amigos residentes aquí, yo ni siquiera residía en Madrid, por entonces año 1985. Ya por entonces era un bar emblemático. Después he averiguado que hace unos 70 años unos mayoristas de pescado de Vigo fueron los que abrieron el Bar Postas. Ellos fueron de los primeros en ofrecer estos bocadillos de calamares. Sigue siendo uno de los lugares más recomendables y hoy mantienen viva esta tradición. Venden al día entre 300 y 400 de estos bocadillos, que se sirven en pan de viena, y alcanzan las 1.000 unidades los sábados. Además ofrecen tapas tradicionales de elaboración propia como las patatas bravas, el pescado adobado o los boquerones. Pero alerta porque en las fotos de sugerencias, situada en la pared, verás que anuncian bocadillos estrambóticos como el de morcilla o del boquerones fritos, algo absurdo, como tener en la barra platos preparados de paella envueltos en papel film que una vez recalentado imagínate cómo pueden atacar tu paladar.
