Salutteria — Restaurant in Madrid

I don’t understand the high reviews, maybe for the atmosphere that I admit is nice, rooftop vibe. But the food quality left us a bit speechless:

1. The Pinza was definitely from a Frozen dough. Tasteless, also vegetables tasted a bit frozen.
2. Mortadella should not be cooked! It should be put on pizza when it’s out of the hoven and ready. I’m surprised if an Italian chef did this.
3. What ruined our experience was also a loud couple in the table next to us. They were smoking all the time. Very rude. The owners should avoid this to happen.

Vitello tonnato and service were very good. I will recommend this place only for aperitivo or a drink, there are better places for pinzas also...

Unbelievably rude customer service. On the roof top there was a large high round table with 8 stools, two were taken. We asked the waiter if we could sit there as the regular tables were all reserved. He said No, even though the high table was not reserved. My impression is they don’t want to serve additional people and prefer lose money. Spoke to the manager, Tomas. He did not even listen to me. He kept justifying the decision of the waiter. Shocking to see people in a business who don’t want to work and make the business lose money. Wonder what the owner...

Visité este restaurante por el cumpleaños de un amigo.

Tras ver en su carta una nota que invitaba a preguntar sobre las opciones vegetarianas y veganas, como vegano, me pareció un gesto considerado, así que decidí preguntar. Me sugirieron unos ñoquis al pesto, asegurando que podrían adaptarlo omitiendo el parmesano.

Sin embargo, al recibir mi plato, descubrí que contenía claramente queso parmesano. Lo envié de vuelta, explicando nuevamente mi preferencia vegana. Se mostraron extrañados ya que “el pesto siempre lleva parmegiano”, comentario que me llamó la atención al existir el peso vegano sin queso.

Decidí darles otra oportunidad y pregunté de nuevo por opciones veganas, esta vez me recomendaron una pasta con tomate.

Al recibir el plato la pasta me impresionó de que la pasta era fresca, por lo que pregunté si la pasta llevaba huevo. Me respondieron que sí, justificando así el tiempo de espera en traerla. Tuve que explicar nuevamente que la pasta fresca no era una opción vegana debido al contenido de huevo.

Finalmente, algo exasperados, me sugirieron una “simple” ensalada. En su defensa, la ensalada resultó ser bastante sabrosa, aunque la experiencia hasta llegar a ella fue bastante frustrante y desalentadora.

Esperaba una mayor comprensión y adaptabilidad hacia las restricciones dietéticas veganas, especialmente cuando se mencionan en la carta.
