It's is a shame that this opened la cava baja. The 60 years of history they claim refers to the restaurant that was their before. They opened this place three weeks ago... We had pimientos al padrón, burata, gambas al ajillo and rabo estovado. We already ordered "save" choices because the restaurant is run by a man that runs three other restaurants in the street and the other ones are tourist traps. Sadly the burata was both, frozen, dry and wet at the same time, while managing to be tasteless. The gamba's turned into mush in our mouths as they had been abused in some way in the kitchen. The pimientos were my favourite, most of them were cooked 👍... Top tip, the two restaurants you see when walking out of the door are really nice (Julian Tolosa and Calla de Illan, but so is anything north of it...
Read moreSo glad that we stopped in at El Schotis, as the food and the vermut were really good. It has patio and interior seating, and we sat inside. On a Monday night it was very busy and we were fortunate to get a table for two and, as we were not in a particular rush, we were able to enjoy the ambience. It would have been nice to have been offered a drink or approached by the waiter within ten minutes if being seated, but they were busy.

In my absence (5 minutes ONLY), my girlfriend was asked to leave to make place for other customer.
